The Great American 5k

Event Overview

The Great American 5K returns on Sunday, July 4, 2027, after a tremendous inaugural event that sold out and welcomed runners from across the United States—and even internationally. We can't think of a better way to begin Independence Day than with a fast, family-friendly 5K celebrating community, patriotism, and giving back.

Course Details

• Location: The course winds through the Linn Creek Industrial Park.
• Features: Safe, relatively flat layout perfect for runners, walkers, families, and strollers.
• Inclusiveness: Ideal whether you're chasing a personal record or enjoying a holiday walk with friends.
• Family-Friendly: A welcoming environment for those introducing kids to their first race.

Race Experience

• Swag: Participants can once again look forward to premium race swag and a custom finisher medal.
• Atmosphere: Expect an energetic race-day atmosphere with patriotic music and American flags lining the course.
• Crowd: Hundreds of participants dressed in red, white, and blue enhance the festive spirit.
• Community Tradition: The Great American 5K has quickly become a Lake-area tradition.

Charity Partnership

Every step you take supports a worthy cause. Proceeds from the Great American 5K benefit Heroes Outreach, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing suicide among military veterans and first responders by combating isolation and rebuilding the sense of camaraderie many experience after leaving military or emergency service.

Heroes Outreach accomplishes this through regular community gatherings where veterans and first responders can connect, build friendships, and support one another in a welcoming environment. Their goal is to ensure that no hero has to face life's challenges alone.

Participation Information

• Status: The inaugural Great American 5K exceeded every expectation, selling out weeks before race day.
• Invitation: We invite you to be part of the next chapter as we celebrate America and support Heroes Outreach.
• Registration: Military members and Veterans can register for 20% off by using the code: service.
• Field Limit: The field size will be limited to a total of 250 participants due to the ordering of custom medals.
