Through the Smoke Road Race

Race Overview

The Mandan Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 4984 proudly presents the return of the Through the Smoke Road Race.

The race will kick off at the Mandan Firefighters Training Grounds 629 24th Ave. SE Mandan, ND on June 6th at 09:00. Events include:

• 5K Family-Friendly: Dogs and strollers welcome
• Competitive Races: 5K and 10K options
• Kids’ Race: Half-mile for ages 10 and under

Fundraising Purpose

All proceeds benefit the Mandan Firefighters by funding new fitness equipment and advanced training opportunities with leaders from across the United States. Key benefits include:

• Mental Resilience: Helps firefighters manage stress and build confidence

Family Activities & Spectator Fun

The starting area will feature a Kids Fire Safety Fun Zone, offering hands-on activities and education for children. Families and spectators are encouraged to:

• Cheer Racers: Support all racers as they cross the finish line
• Enjoy the Atmosphere: Participate in the community vibe throughout the event

Schedule

Friday:

• 3:00 - 7:00pm: Packet Pickup at Signature Events - 401 West Main, Mandan ND

Saturday:

• 8:00 – 8:45: Packet Pickup and Race Day Registration
• 9:00: 10K Competitive Run Starts
• 9:00: 5K Competitive Run Starts
• 9:00: Family Fun 5K Starts behind the Competitive Runners
• 10:30: Awards Ceremony for Competitive Runs
• 10:45: Kids 1/2 Mile Starts

Competitive Races (5K & 10K) include:

Family Fun 5K

Includes:

• Swag Bag: 1 per group
• Event T-Shirt: One per registered participant
• Multi-Person Discount: $5.00 discount when signed up together
• Timing: Will not be professionally timed

Awards

Awards will be given to the 1st place finisher in each age group for both male and female divisions in the 5K and 10K competitive races. Competitive Age Groups:

• Age Groups: 19 & under | 20–29 | 30–39 | 40–49 | 50–59 | 60 & over
• Kids ½-Mile Age Group: 10 and under

All registered participants for the competitive 5K and 10K will receive a finisher medal at the finish line.
