Race Overview
A "Bucket List" Buckle Race!
- Description: You deserve a fantastic "hometown" 100 miler with incredible buckles! This is the perfect race to prepare for the Ghost Train Trail Race or any other 100 miler!
- Date and Time: The 30 Hour/100 mile EPIC event kicks off on Saturday at 8:30 am and runs until Sunday at 2:30 pm.
- Challenge: Whether you choose to run, power-hike, or crawl, this challenge is for you.
- Course Details: The course features an irregular loop of 2.23 miles per lap with a maximum elevation gain of 201 feet.
Course Characteristics
- Terrain: Showcasing the typical New England terrain of roots, rocks, and rolling hills.
- Markings: Clear course markings of flags and signs ensure you won’t get lost.
- Unique Experience: It is truly the only "real" trail buckle race in CT.

Event Logistics
- Location: Roosevelt Forest, 700 Peters Lane, Stratford, CT.
- Packet Pickup: There will be a bib/swag pickup on the 10th between 2 and 5 pm.
- Setup: You can set up your personal area, but the race is not responsible for theft or damage.
- Overnight Camping: No overnight camping is allowed on Friday night per Town Ordinance.
Race Day Information
- Check-in: Bib/swag pickup will begin on Saturday at 7 am, and the race starts at 8:30 am.
- Parking: Please park 'comfortably' close: larger vehicles should go to the side lot (no RVs).
- Aid Station: The pavilion serves as the only aid station during the trail races.
- Food: Excellent ultra hydration and foods will be provided, including PB&J sliders and pizzas.
Awards and Challenges
- Challenge Options: Choose between 26.2M, 50K, 50M, 100K, 100 Miles, or more!
- Course Details: The 2.23-mile loop features rocky terrain and one larger hill known as “OMG.”
- Finisher Buckle: Complete 45 loops in 30 hours to earn a stunning finisher buckle (no extra charge).
- Race Winners: First through third place finishers in both male and female categories are awarded based on the most miles completed in 30 hours.
Crew and Pacers
- Pacer Rules: One Pacer is allowed per runner: they must register and sign the waiver to participate.
- Pacer Costs: $50 for 12 hours (starting at 2:30 am on Sunday): $25 for 6 hours (from 8:30 am to race end).
- Check-in: Pacers must check-in to receive a wristband at the pavilion.
- Disqualification: Unauthorized pacers will lead to disqualification from the race!

- Supported Organizations: The Roosevelt Forest Ultras support various charities, including the Forest Commission, Veterans Museum, and Library.
- Community Impact: Portions of proceeds from the Black Forest Ultra are appreciated by these charities.

Final Notes
- Hydration: All hydration, H2O, GU, and ultra snacks are available all day and night.
- No Refund Policy: Registration is FINAL: there are absolutely no refunds or race deferrals.
- Age Requirement: Participants must be at least 18 years old or have a parental/guardian signed waiver.
- Personal Race: This race is limited to approximately 25/50 participants, making it truly a 'personal race for your personal best.'
