Race Description:

• Favorite: Mt. Airy Ridge Run is a perennial favorite. This is the largest park in the city and features extensive trails.
• Size: Mt. Airy Forest is, in fact, one of the larger parks located within a city's limits in the country. Even Central Park can only boast 843 acres, while Mt. Airy holds a massive 1,469.9 acres.
• Experience: The Mt. Airy Forest Ridge Run is aptly named, as the runners will get a wilderness experience that mirrors the Sierras at times.
• Trail Features: The course winds through all of the features Mt. Airy has to offer, such as its lush evergreens, dense hardwoods, open meadows, flowing rivers, and of course, hill climbs and ridge traverses.

Race Details:

• Distances: The Mt. Airy Forest Ridge Run will have TWO separate races over different distances. There will be a two lap race (10.6 miles) that will begin at 8:30 a.m. There will also be a one lap race (5.4 miles) that will start at 8:30 a.m.
• Course Sweep: We will begin sweeping the course at 9:45 am so you need to be finished with one lap by then.
• Series Points: This is the Third leg of the Dirt Days Trail Series. Each event will be scored separately and both events will count toward the Series points.
• Trekker Option: We have added a "Trekker" category for those who would like to do the 10+ mile course but need extra time to finish.

🏃 The Course

The Mt. Airy Forest Ridge Run will have TWO separate races over different distances. There will be a two lap race (10.6 miles) that will begin at 8:30 a.m. There will also be a one lap race (5.4 miles) that will start at 8:30 am. See the attached course map. The direction was reversed a few years back. The current configuration will be a counter-clockwise loop. Each event will be scored separately and both events will count toward the Series points.

🏆 Individual Event Awards

• Overall Winners: The overall top male and overall top female in each race will receive a FREE pair of Altra shoes.
• Roll-Down Winners: No duplicate winners allowed throughout the series, in this case a roll-down winner will be awarded.
• Additional Prizes: An additional FREE pair of Altra shoes will be randomly awarded. Again, no duplicates.
• Door Prizes: Randomly drawn door prizes will be also awarded at each event. (must be present to win, so stick around!)

Trail Series shirts are available for $20 with registration or at the venue.

• Cost: Registration Fee: $22.50 Pre-registration per race. Online Registration only.
• Kids Discount: NEW in 2024: Kids 14 and under will receive a $5 discount at checkout.
• Race Day Registration: Online registration will be available on race day via mobile if we are not sold out.

📋 Race Day Registration and Pick Up

There is no early packet pick up for this event. Check in on day of race is from 6:30 am through 8:15 am.
