Join us on FEBRUARY 20, 2027 at 7:00 am and help us celebrate Chris' birthday while we run/walk on the beautiful boardwalk of Hollywood Beach.

Event Purpose

The Chris Hixon Memorial 5k will honor the memory of Chris Hixon; a friend, Coach, Father, and great human being. All proceeds will support the Chris Hixon Athletic Scholarship foundation.

About Chris Hixon

Christopher Hixon was a victim of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School tragedy on February 14, 2018. He was gunned down while running towards the shooter in an effort to prevent further loss of innocent lives. Despite his wounds, he stood guard until police arrived, showing remarkable bravery.

• Career: Chris was an Athletic Director, Coach, and Campus Monitor during a 20+ year career in Broward County Public Schools.
• Military Service: A retired U.S. Navy Machinist Mate First Class, Chris served 27 honorable years, including 5 active duty and 22 reserve.
• Dedication: Known for his commitment to student-athletes, Chris always went the extra mile to ensure their wellbeing.
• Scholarship Fund: A scholarship in his name has been established for student-athletes at the schools he served.
