GAF BEER MILE

🍻 Join Us for the GAF Beer Mile!

Join us for the area's official Beer Mile event at the German American Festival. Participants will run a total of 1 mile and consume a total of 4 beers. Along with the beer mile event, we will also offer a mini mile. Each participant can choose to run a 1/2 mile, but consume 2 beers.

Your race entry fee includes your beers for the event, t-shirt, and festival entry.

🏃‍♂️ What is a Beer Mile?

• Run and Drink: Drink a beer, run a quarter mile.
• Repeat: Drink a beer, run a quarter mile.
• Keep Going: Drink a beer, run a quarter mile.
• Finish Strong: Drink a beer, run a quarter mile.

Four beers, one mile.

🏃‍♀️ What is a Mini Beer Mile?

• First Quarter: Drink a beer, run a quarter mile.
• Second Quarter: Drink a beer, run a quarter mile.
• Shorter Distance: Two beers, half mile.

🕑 Tentative Schedule

• Heats: We will offer heats throughout the day beginning at 2pm.
• Time Interval: Heats will run every 15 minutes.
• Final Wave: The final wave will run at 3:15pm.
• Beer Spots: Beer spots will be assigned during bib pickup on Sunday.

📝 Limited Registration is Available

• Early Registration: The first 50 people to register will receive premium pricing.
• Wave Limit: There is a limit of 30 people per wave.

📜 Beer Mile Rules

1. Format: Each competitor drinks four cans of beer and runs four laps (start - beer, then lap, then beer, then lap, then beer, then lap - finish).
2. Transition Zone: Beer must be consumed before the lap is begun, within the transition area, which is the 10 meter zone before the start/finish line.
3. Start: The race begins with the drinking of the first beer in the last meter of the transition zone.
4. Women: Women also drink four beers in four laps.
5. Beer Type: Competitors must drink canned beer with a minimum volume of 355ml (12oz). The GAF Beer Mile will use Labatt Beer.
6. Restrictions: No specialized cans or bottles that allow for a faster pour are permitted.
7. Opening: Beer cans must not be tampered with except for opening by the tab.
8. Alcohol Content: Beer must be a minimum of 5% alcohol by volume.
9. Opening Rule: Each beer can must not be opened until the competitor enters the transition zone on each lap.
10. Penalty: Competitors who vomit before finish must complete one penalty lap at the end.
