Fast Track to a Cure 5K brings together survivors, families, friends, and community members to raise awareness and support research for oligodendroglioma — a rare form of brain cancer. Whether you have been personally affected by brain cancer or want to support an important cause, every step helps move us closer to more research, better treatments and long-term survivorship!
About One of Our Survivors, Lauren...
Lauren Montanelli's journey began on November 9, 2021, when she experienced unexpected speech difficulties during a work meeting. By January 20, 2022 - her mom's birthday - she was diagnosed with Grade 3 oligodendroglioma after surgery at UCSF. Lauren's post-surgical goal was profound: to be able to say her kids' names, Austin and Avery. Lauren is strong and works hard every day to continue her recovery, drawing strength from her amazing support network of family, friends, and healthcare providers.
Meet Stanley, a Resident of Marina Bay...
In March 2021, Stanley Currier suddenly experienced 2 grand mal seizures, and was diagnosed with Grade 3 oligodendroglioma. Soon after, the Currier family teamed up with Oligo Nation and launched the first Fast Track to a Cure 5K. Stanley promoted a global movement with in person participants in the Bay Area and virtual participants from all over the world including Michigan, Japan, Germany, Norway, Kazakhstan, Iraq, and more.
A Community United for a Cure
The Fast Track to a Cure event in the Bay Area has since grown, involving more families, friends and caring community members. Come roll, walk, or run with us! This year’s event introduces optional race timing while keeping the event fun and welcoming for everyone. We look forward to seeing you participate live or virtually at the 6th Annual Fast Track to a Cure Bay Area this September!
