Story of Benton
- Diagnosis: Jordan and Danny found out that their unborn son, Benton, had gastroschisis ─ a birth defect where a baby is born with their organs outside of their body.
- Care Journey: Benton underwent seven surgeries within the first week of life at Le Bonheur’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
- Homecoming: After 153 days in the NICU, Benton went home following successful surgery to close his abdomen.
- Local Support: Complications led Benton to receive care at the Le Bonheur Outpatient Center in Jackson, making follow-ups easier for the family.
Impact of Le Bonheur
- Gratitude: “We are grateful to rely on the same people who have cared for Benton since his birth,” said Jordan.
- Access to Care: Receiving care in Jackson meant Jordan didn’t have to take the entire day off work.
- Follow-ups: Benton has regular follow-ups every six months for his health.
