Paws on Patrol

Event Overview

The Merced Police Department K9 Association would like to invite you, your family, and your friends (2 and 4-legged!) to the first annual Paws on Patrol Fun Run at Lake Yosemite on Saturday, October 17, 2026. The goal of Paws on Patrol is to bring our community together in support of canine programs that promote public safety, education, service, wellness, and compassionate care for working and service dogs throughout our region. Runners and walkers of all levels can register to compete in the 1 Mile, 5K, or 10K. Run or walk by yourself or in the company of your dog. That's right, this is a family and dog-friendly event! First of its kind in our area. Both you and your pets will enjoy the scenic course we've laid out at beautiful Lake Yosemite.

Awards

• Medals: Age-group medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place males and females in the 5K/10K running events (10 & under, 11-14, 15-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, & 60+).
• 1 Mile Awards: In the 1 Mile run/walk, 1st and 2nd place males and females will receive a medal.
• First 100 Participants: The first 100 registered participants (with a dog) will receive a custom dogtag.

Event Goals

• Financial Support: To raise financial support for Merced Police Department K9 Association nonprofit program.
• Public Awareness: To increase public awareness about the important role canine teams play in public safety, service, and community engagement.
• Community Partnerships: To strengthen partnerships between local law enforcement, first responders, schools, businesses, veterans, and community organizations.
• Fun and Educational Event: To provide a safe, fun, and educational annual event for families, animal lovers, and K9 supporters throughout Merced.
• Youth Involvement: To inspire youth involvement, volunteerism, and community engagement through positive canine-centered activities and demonstrations.
• Annual Tradition: To establish “Paws on Patrol” as a signature annual community tradition that celebrates teamwork, service.

Participation Options

Not ready to complete a 10K Run or even a 5K Run/Walk? Choose the easy, low-key, 1 Mile Run/Walk. With or without a dog...we hope you can join us for this great community cause. Our working and retired K9 heroes thank you for your support!
