Occoneechee State Park Annual Turkey Trot

The 5K Race and one-mile kids fun run is conducted in scenic Occoneechee State Park which borders John Kerr Lake and the attractive lake front town of Clarksville VA.

• Course: The 5K course consists of paved roads, rolling hills, and lake views as it winds through wooded areas of the park.
• Proceeds: All proceeds directly benefit Occoneechee State Park by providing funding for projects such as a walkway for pedestrians and bikes, a sensory trail, and many other park events, enhancements, and environmental projects.
• Community Support: Thanks to our community, local businesses, and the 2025 5K participants we were able to successfully complete the Breaking Point Disc Golf course and many other projects.
• Food Donation: With your generous contributions we were also able to present 271 pounds of canned food to the local food bank.

Event Date and Location

• Date: November 14, 2026 (Rain or Shine)
• Location: 1192 Occoneechee Park Road, Clarksville, VA
• Registration Open: Begins August 1, 2026.
• Registration Deadline: Ends on November 8, 2026.

Race Details

• 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk: Starts at 10 am for children 13 and under. Parental assistance and strollers are welcome. All children that participate will receive a medal.
• 5K Fun Run/Walk: Starts at 11 am. Open to all ages. Walk, run, hop, skip or crawl. Well-mannered leashed pets & costumes welcome.
• Awards: Medals will be awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers of the 5K, as well as the top three male and female finishers in various age groups.
• Age Groups: Age 14 - 24, Age 25 - 34, Age 35 - 44, Age 45 - 54, Age 55 - 64, Age 65 and up.

Registration Information

• T-Shirts: Optional T-Shirts available for purchase. Order at the time of registration on or before October 17, 2026. If opting out, select (Opt Out) in T-Shirt size option during registration.
• Entry Fee: Park entry fee is $7.00 or donate 4 cans of food to be donated to the local food bank. Donations are welcome and appreciated.
• Race Packets: Will be available on the day of the event.
• Late Registration: Begins November 9 – November 12. In-person registration on the day of the event, cash only.

• Kids 1 Mile Fun: $20.00
