The Animal Run 5k Tofurkey Trot

Event Overview

Welcome to our 3rd annual Run/Walk and Canicross (canine cross-country) Tofurkey Trot fundraiser!

Our Mission

• Purpose: Animal Run's vegan foot races raise funds for various animal welfare organizations, helping them save the lives of, find homes for, heal and comfort animal residents in need.
• Support: Animal Run encourages athletes to support vegan businesses that promote human health and a thriving world.

What is Canicross?

• Definition: Canicross can be run with one or two dogs, always attached to the runner.
• Equipment: The runner wears a waist belt or hip harness to minimize stress on the back lumbar area.
• Dog Harness: The dog wears a specifically designed harness for safe and unrestricted joint movement.
• Joining: The two are joined by a bungee cord or elastic line that reduces shock to both human and dog when the dog pulls.

This Year's Beneficiary

This year's beneficiary will be the Milo Foundation! They've been on our list of incredible organizations to support for a while.

• Mission: To rescue dogs and cats from high-kill shelters and adopt them to loving homes best suited to provide a lifetime of care and love.
• Rehabilitation: They also rehabilitate dogs and cats, offer sanctuary to those that are not adoptable, and educate the public about responsible pet guardianship including spay/neuter.

Event Details

• Date: Thursday, Nov 26, 2026
• Location: Volleyball Sand Court, 14001 Monarch Bay Dr, San Leandro, CA 94577
• Parking: There is a large FREE parking lot next to the race area. There is also street parking if the lot is full.
• Registration: Opens at 8am. Races start at 8:55am.

Registration Pricing

Online Registration Closes 11/25 at 3pm*

Adults

• 5K Solo &: virtual runners: $45 ($55 for late and same day registration)
• Canicross &: virtual teams: $55 ($65 for late and for same day registration)
• 1 Mile walkers and dog walkers: $45 ($55 for late and same day registration)

Kids

• Kids 12 and under: $20
• Kids 12 and under Canicross Teams: $30

Note: There is a small processing fee per registration.

Race Day Schedule

• 8:00: Registration opens
• 8:45: Welcome
• 8:55: 5k Canicrossers start
• 9:00: 5k Solo Runners and 1 mile Walkers start
• 9:30: Vegan Coffee &: Carbs
• 10:00: Awards Ceremony

Course Description

5K: Flat and fast with option to run on mostly dirt and grass and some road.
