THE MANGY COYOTE BACKYARD ULTRA

The Mangy Coyote is a backyard ultra with bite: a scrappy, no-frills endurance event built for runners who thrive on the edge of discomfort. This event is a fundraiser for the Pictou County United Way.

Formerly known as "The Backyard Boogeyman" - we're entering 2026 with this newly imagined race name paying homage to our lovely 2025 mascots.. the Mangy Coyotes!

It’s a test of stubbornness, attitude, and survival.

For 13h - run a loop. Repeat. The loops keep coming until the time is up - or you give up.

This isn’t about medals or glory. It’s about how far you’ll go before the wilderness spits you back out.

EVENT DETAILS

• Date: Saturday, October 24, 2026 (TBC)
• Location: Trenton Park, Nova Scotia
• Format: Casual Backyard Style Ultramarathon
• Start Time: 9:00am
• Cutoff Time: 10:00pm
• Aid Station: Hydration, light snacks, and the bare essentials - just enough to keep you honest.
• Crew Area: Tent space near the start/finish line for gear, food, and support.

*Loop distance TBD - Estimated distance would be 4-6km and 40-60m of elevation. Mixture of groomed double-wide gravel trails + singletrack technical.

• Spirit of the Pack Award - For the runner who embodies grit and community. The coyote is a survivor - It adapts, outsmarts, and endures - even when the odds stack high.

The Mangy Coyote carries that same spirit. It’s scrappy, clever, and hard to kill.

Expect a race built around camaraderie and chaos: firelight, laughter, fatigue, and that wild pulse that reminds you why you run.
