Join us on Sunday, August 9, 2026, for the Down East Sunrise Gravel Ride, a scenic gravel cycling event celebrating the beauty, wildlife, and quiet gravel backroads of Downeast Maine!

The 2026 ride will take place at Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge, offering riders a unique opportunity to explore one of the region’s most beautiful protected landscapes by bike. This ride is designed to highlight outdoor recreation, conservation partnerships, and the growing connection between the Down East Sunrise Trail, local communities, and public lands like the National Wildlife Refuge.

Hosted in partnership with the Down East Sunrise Trail Coalition and the Friends of Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge, the ride welcomes gravel riders looking for a memorable, low-pressure event rooted in place, purpose, and community.

This is a non-timed event. T-shirt and lunch included with entry fee.

Schedule

• Saturday August 8th - All Day:
  • International Homecoming Festival: A beloved annual celebration that brings together the neighbouring communities of St. Stephen, New Brunswick and Calais, Maine for a unique cross-border experience. Passport required for a complete International experience!
  • Johnsons International 5 Mile Road Race: Saturday August 8th, 9am. Registration details coming soon.
  • Activities: Parade, live Music, Food vendors, arts and crafts!
• Sunday August 9th:
  • 8:00am: Check-in, T-Shirt Pickup at the YCC Building - Directions here
  • 9:00am: Advanced Gravel Ride Starts - 24mi
  • 9:15am: Intermediate Gravel Ride Starts - 14mi
  • 9:30am: Beginner Gravel Ride Starts - 5mi
  • 10:30am - 2:30pm: Picnic Lunch hosted by Friends of Moosehorn NWR

Entry Fee Schedule

• Family Entry (up to 5 family members):
  • Early bird: $40 - Until July 1
  • Regular: $50 - Until August 1
  • Late: $60 - August 1 to August 9
• Solo Rider:
  • Early Bird: Until July 1 - $20
  • Regular: Until August 1 $25
  • Late: August 1 to August 9 - $30
