The Northern Neck River Ride

DATE AND LOCATION

• Date: The ride is on Saturday, October 10, 2026.
• Event Ticket: Riders can choose from four distance options (20, 29, 40, and 65 miles).
• Start and Finish: For the 20-mile, 29-mile, 40-mile, and metric century routes: Lancaster Elementary School, 191 School Road, Kilmarnock, VA 22482.
• Beginner/Casual Ride: Newer and casual riders can register for a 10-mile loop that starts and ends at historic Shiloh School: Shiloh School, State Rte. 606, Kilmarnock, VA 22482.

REGISTRATION FEES

• Standard Routes: 20-mile, 29-mile, 40-mile, and metric century routes: $75.
• Beginner/Casual Ride: $50.
• Day-of Event Surcharge: Registration fee + $15 (if offered).
• Entry Fees: A portion benefits the Northern Neck Bike Club.

WHAT DOES MY REGISTRATION COVER?

• Covers: Event insurance, rest stop food & drinks, advertising and logistics, and ride T-shirt.
• T-shirt: Each registrant will receive a T-shirt.
• Additional Items: Purchase additional T-shirts and club-cut cycling jerseys for $70.
• Post-Event Items: T-shirts and jerseys purchased after Sept. 15 may be mailed.

THE ROUTES

• Course Options: A 10-mile beginner route, plus 20, 29, 40, and 65 miles.
• Map Availability: Preliminary maps available here: River Ride 2026 Preliminary Routes.
• Course Marking: Marked with painted arrows before and after every turn.
• RideWithGPS: Available for all participants.

STOPS/TREATS/RIDE SUPPORT

• Rest Stops: Well-stocked with essential supplies and volunteer support.
• SAG Team: Monitoring the routes for safety.
• After Party: Enjoy Kilmarnock’s Fall Festival.
• Event Party: Join us at CAMP Irvington from 6:00-8:00.

CHECK-IN INFORMATION

• Early Check-In: Available from 6:00pm–8:00pm on Saturday, October 10 at Lancaster Elementary School.
• Ride Day Check-In: Opens at 6:30am at Lancaster Elementary School.
• Departure Timing: Riders depart at their own pace, finishing no later than 3:00pm.
• Support Vehicles: Sweeping the course to ensure all riders return safely.

PARKING INFORMATION

• Main Ride Parking: Lancaster Elementary School or Town of Kilmarnock parking lot.
• Beginner Ride Parking: Check-in at Lancaster Elementary, then park at Shiloh School.
• Security: Volunteers will assist with safe departures post-ride.
• Restroom Availability: Restrooms open during check-in at the elementary school.

EVENT POLICIES

• Refund Policy: No refunds, this is a rain or shine event.
• E-Bikes: Class 1 and Class 3 e-bikes are allowed: mopeds and Class 2 e-bikes are not.
• Helmet Requirement: An ANSI or SNELL certified helmet is required.
• Children’s Participation: Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent.

FOOD AND SUPPORT

• Rest Stop Snacks: Stocked with water and various snacks.
• Box Lunch: Available for those completing the metric century route.
• Route Assistance: Call 804-480-2776 for ride support.
• Volunteer Support: Volunteers and HAM radio operators for SAG support.
