About this race
Event Overview
- Theme: Time to break out the turkey costumes and strap on your running shoes!
- Organizer: The Danville Public Schools Education Foundation, in collaboration with the Danville Otterbots and the Danville Running & Fitness Club, is hosting its sixth Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk and Children's Fun Run.
- Date: Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 26th, 2026.
- Location: The event will start and end at American Legion Field, home of the Danville Otterbots.
Purpose
- Fundraising: All proceeds go toward programs, initiatives, and scholarships for DPS students and teachers.
Event Schedule
- Race Times: Children's Fun Run - 8:30am: 5K Run/Walk - 9:00am.
Course Details
- Route: The entire race will be along the beautiful Dan River on the Riverwalk Trail.
Registration Information
- Entry Fee: Children's Fun Run (12 and under) - $0 (as long as an adult is registered for the 5K Run/Walk).
- 5K Fees: $35 to pre-register, $40 on race day. All area students 17 and under - $25, $30 on race day.
- Packet Pick-Up: Available on race day beginning at 7:00am.
- Race Day Registration: Starts at 7:00am on Thursday. Cash and check ONLY. Checks should be made payable to Danville Public Schools Education Foundation.
Participant Perks
- Shirts: All race registrants signed up by 11/13/26 will receive a long-sleeve performance shirt. Registrants after this date will receive shirts subject to availability.
- Awards: Trophies and medals will be awarded for various categories.
- Categories: 5K run and walk categories: 0-14, 15-19, every 10 years up to 69, 70 and over.
