The Run the Runway 5K is a unique opportunity for the entire community to experience Baxter County Airport up close. Runners and walkers will travel a route normally reserved for airplanes. The event is designed to bring the airport and community together while highlighting the important role Baxter County Airport plays with proceeds benefiting the Leading Edge Aviation Foundation.
Packet Pick-Up / Registration
Pickup on race day! Starting at 6:30 am.
We will also accept on-site registrations at this time.
What's Included? Sweet race day t-shirt > register on time!
Chipped timed race > based on gun start.
Finisher medals.
Age division medals, three-deep.

Course Description
You guessed, we're Running the Runway! There will be one bonus partial-loop at roughly the 1/2 mile mark. Volunteers will guide you as you meander the airport grounds and runway.

Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities can choose a 5K or 1-mile course and travel a route normally reserved for airplanes. Along the way, participants can meet the people who fly and work in aviation, learn more about the airport, and enjoy a one-of-a-kind fall Saturday morning. The event is designed to bring the airport and community together while highlighting the important role Baxter County Airport plays in our area. Beyond aviation, the airport supports local businesses, provides critical access for emergency and medical services, and serves as a gateway for visitors to our community. Whether you’re an aviation enthusiast, introducing a young person to flight, or simply curious about what happens at your local airport, come run, walk and explore—and discover just how much your airport has to offer. You’ll be running for a great cause that brings benefits directly to Baxter County residents. Proceeds from the event support aviation scholarships through the Leading Edge Aviation Foundation (LEAF), a non-profit 501(c)(3). Awarding scholarships to local students since 2023, LEAF provides aviation career development assistance for students grades 6-12 and graduates entering the aerospace industry.
