Join the Logan Community Foundation on Saturday, November 21, 2026, for our inaugural Turkey Trot 5K run/walk & 1-Mile Fun Walk as we celebrate the opening of Phase 1 of Logan’s Safe Routes to School Trail!

Before the race, we’ll celebrate this exciting community milestone with a ribbon-cutting ceremony outside the Logan-Magnolia School Panther Dome. Then it’s time to lace up, hit the trail and celebrate the community spirit that helped make this project possible.

A Trail Years in the Making

• Vision: The trail system's vision emerged through the 2022 Iowa’s Living Roadways Community Visioning process.
• Community Input: Surveys and public open houses identified safer walking and biking connections as a priority.
• Implementation: The community prioritized projects, pursued grants, and planned improvements in phases.
• Funding: Multiple grants and local support have moved the trail from concept to construction.

Phase 1 is the first major step in that larger vision, and this Turkey Trot is our chance to celebrate how far we’ve come while continuing to dream about Logan’s future.

• 5K Run/walk: 3.1 miles of fun, including a portion of our brand-new trail.
• 1-Mile Fun Walk: A family-friendly way to experience the new trail and celebrate this milestone.
• T-Shirt: All registrants will receive a free t-shirt within their race packet!
• Fundraising: All funds raised will go towards trail amenities such as lighting along the trail.
