One unforgettable race day, six ways to participate, and a finish line built around community. The Molokai Marathon welcomes competitive runners, walkers, first-timers, families, keiki, kūpuna, and visitors to experience the island through movement.

Hosted by Youth in Motion, the event is designed to support healthier lifestyles while creating direct opportunities for Molokai youth through sports, leadership, ocean activities, and community involvement.

Welcome to the Molokai Marathon, a race built on the legacy of the Molokai Holokai and Youth in Motion. Every step you take supports Molokai's youth. Whether you're chasing a marathon PR or walking the 1-mile with your family, you're part of something bigger than a finish line.

Marathon anticipated cutoff: 8–8.5 hours.

THE COURSE

All courses are out-and-back, starting and finishing at the Molokai Community Health Center. The marathon heads west through Kaunakakai and up through Hoʻolehua past Molokai High School, then climbs Kalaʻe Highway to the Kalaupapa Overlook at Pālāʻau State Park before turning around and returning the same way to MCHC.

The climb to Pālāʻau is a long, steady ascent of almost 2,300 feet. Train for hills, and save something for the descent. Course maps and elevation profiles for each distance will be posted before race day.

A CUPLESS, LOW-WASTE RACE

To mālama our ʻāina, the Molokai Marathon is a cupless event. Every runner receives a reusable HydraPak SpeedCup in their race packet. Carry it on the course, and our aid stations will refill it. Keep it as a souvenir for your next race!

WHAT'S INCLUDED

Race Morning Shuttles

Free shuttle service to the start and finish at the Molokai Community Health Center will run from the camping area Kaoaini Beach Park (Kawela), Molokai Shores, and Hotel Molokai. We may add West End and Wavecrest service depending on demand.

Request your seat during registration. If you’ve already registered, update your answer from your racer dashboard. We'll post pickup times and locations to your dashboard and email them the week of the race.

Prices increase on January 15, May 1, and August 1. Register early for the best rate. Registration closes October 01, 2027. There is no race-day registration.

• Molokai Youth Run FREE: this event is about supporting our youth, so all Molokai participants 18 and under register for free.
• All Other Youth Run 30% Off: all non-Molokai participants 18 and under register at a 30% discount.

PROTECTED EVENT: EVENT CANCELLATION PROTECTION BY ADVENTURE ADVOCATES

The Molokai Marathon is a member of Adventure Advocates' Event Cancellation Protection program. An additional 3% processing fee is included in the fees at checkout for this protection.

If the race is cancelled or postponed (and not rescheduled within 90 days) because of adverse weather, a natural catastrophe such as a hurricane, tsunami, or flood, or terrorism, Adventure Advocates will provide a full or partial refund of your registration fee to the card used at registration.

Refunds do not apply if the race is cancelled after it has started, if it is rescheduled within 90 days, or for circumstances known before the event joined the program. This is a refund guarantee, not an insurance plan. Please read the full Adventure Advocates Refund Disclaimer linked during registration for complete terms.

Refund policy: apart from the Event Cancellation Protection above, registration fees are non-refundable, including if you are unable to attend.
