Run For The Paws

Event Overview

Run For The Paws 5k and 1 mile run benefits the animals at the Wellington Humane Society. The Wellington Humane Society is 501(c) non-profit that serves Sumner County, Kansas. We are a no kill shelter that opened to the public in December 2019. Our mission is to take in unwanted animals and find them loving, permanent homes. We receive no city or county funding, and rely solely on donations to care for the animals at our shelter. All proceeds from this run goes towards providing food and medical care for those currently living at the shelter while they await their forever home.

Race Details

• Date: June 20, 2026
• Location: 203 W. Hillside, Wellington, KS
• Race Times: 5k at 7:30am, 1 mile at 8:30am
• Course: Mix of road, gravel, and sidewalk

Registration Information

T-shirts will be guaranteed to those who pre-register by 12:00pm (noon) on May 15th. Packets can be picked up at the Wellington Humane Society on Thursday and Friday June 19-20th from 3-7pm, or on race day beginning at 6:30am. Finisher medals will be awarded to all participants and trophies given to top male and top female in the 5k. Post race refreshments will be provided for both races and there will be 1 aid station at the halfway point for the 5k.

Dog Participation

Dogs are welcome to join but must be up to date on vaccinations, non-aggressive, and leashed at all times.
