EVENT: 13th Annual RISING SUN RUN

DESCRIPTION

• Location: High desert plain of southeast Arizona, Sierra Vista.
• Event Types: Half Marathon, 5K, and 1M Fun Run/Walk.
• Elevation: Starting at 4,500 feet, with significant elevation change to 5,500 feet.
• Course Certification: Both courses are USA Track & Field certified.

CHALLENGE

• Experience Required: A challenge even for experienced runners.
• Completion Time: Half marathon runners must complete in 3 hours or less.
• Return Course: Beautiful vistas of the San Pedro River valley await.
• Course Maps: Available here.

AID STATIONS

• Half Marathon: 5 first aid and water stations available.
• Portable Toilets: Available at race headquarters and midway through the half marathon.
• 5K Course: No portable toilet facilities, but has a first aid and water station at the turnaround.

CAUSES

• Scholarships: Proceeds support vocational scholarships for local high school graduates.
• Leadership Programs: Funding for Rotary youth leadership and professional skills development.
• Community Projects: Supports various Rotary service projects.

RACE START TIMES

• Half Marathon: 7:30am
• 5K: 8:30am
• 1M Run/Walk: 8:45am

AWARDS CEREMONY

• Finish Line Experience: Music and post-run recovery snacks and drinks.
• Medals: Awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in both categories.
• Age Groups: 16 and below, 17-25, 26-35, 36-45, 46-55, 56-65, 66 and above.
• Half Marathon Cash Prizes: 1st place - $150, 2nd place - $100, 3rd place - $50.

REGISTRATION

• Registration Process: All pre-race and race-day registrations via RunSignUp.
• Packet Pickup: Race headquarters at Huachuca Mountain Elementary School, Oct. 31st and Nov. 1st.
• Same Day Registration: Closes 30 minutes before your start time: no registration needed for 1M Fun Run/Walk.

REGISTRATION FEES

• Half Marathon: $65 until 9/1, then $75.
• 5K: $30 until 9/1, then $35.
• Military, Club, Youth: Half Marathon $60/$70, 5K $25/$30.
• Military, E-4 and below: Half Marathon $35, 5K $30.
