  • Fees Increase: Registration fees increase January 1, 2026
  • Discount: Youth and young adult runners will receive a discount upon registration from November 01, 2025, to April 16, 2026.
  • Youth Cost: $5
  • Young Adult Cost: $10

About The Maple Run

The longest continuously held half-marathon in St. Lawrence County, The Maple Run celebrates the end of winter, contributes to the community's economic development, and supports local youth running programs.

  • 5K Start: 9:15 AM
  • Location: Start/Finish line at the Bend in the River Park picnic shelter
  • Awards: Placement Awards at 11:00/11:15 AM

Post-Race Activities

Door Prize Drawing: 11:00/11:15 AM

Stay for snacks and drinks: 10:45 AM to 12:30 PM

Parking is available in the Canton Pavilion lot and along Lincoln Street

Distances

  • Half-marathon: 13.1 miles, 8:30 AM start
  • 5K-ish: around 3.1 miles, 9:15 AM start

Participation Options

The Maple Run welcomes runners at all levels of development and fitness, so there are many ways to participate.

  • Options: Runners can graduate from the 5K to the half-marathon or sample the half-marathon virtually this year.
  • Hybrid Available: Participants can also try a bit of both with the hybrid half-marathon option.
  • In-Person &: Virtual: Half-marathon and 5K distances are offered as in-person and virtual events.
  • Hybrid Details: The final 3.1 miles of the half marathon are completed at the event on April 18, 2026.

Youth Registration

  • Aged 8 to 17: Eligible for low-cost youth entry.
  • Awards: Youth participants are not eligible for age-group and overall placement awards.
  • Included: All youth registrants will receive a shirt and finisher’s medallion included in their entry fee.

Walking and Running

  • Time Limit: The half-marathon route will remain open for four hours.
  • Dedicated Walkers: Encouraged to try the virtual or hybrid option.
  • Staggered Start Times: The start times for the in-person half-marathon and 5K are staggered.

Wheelchair Accessibility

  • Course Details: The half-marathon course is fully on road and open to traffic.
  • Welcoming: Wheelchair athletes, special needs strollers, and certified service animals are welcome on the course.

Course Information

The scenic out-and-back half-marathon course offers well-stocked refreshment stations along the route, staffed by the North Country's best volunteers.

The 5K participants travel an on- and off-road course through the Village of Canton and the well-maintained trail system of the St. Lawrence University campus.

Shirts, Medals, and Prizes

  • All Registrants: Receive a long-sleeve shirt included in the cost of their entry.
  • Finisher Medallion: All in-person and hybrid participants will receive an iconic Maple Run wooden finisher's medallion.
  • Awards: Top placements in each half-marathon age group will receive a special edition Maple Run keychain.
  • No Prizes: No placement prizes or age-group awards will be offered to 5K participants.

For Spectators

  • Viewing: Plenty of room at the combined start/finish line for spectators.
  • Arrangements: For spectators who wish to grace their athlete with the finisher's medal, arrangements can be made with the volunteers at the finish line.
  • Access: The half-marathon route is open to traffic, making it easy to reach the halfway point and water stations.
