🏃‍♂️ Race Overview

Are you ready to Kiss the Goat?

Last year we had so much fun with the 11 mile option that we decided to extend it on into a half marathon! To keep a lighter day in the mix the options we also have a 10K. With these new routes it sadly does not leave us space for the classic 4 mile loop. We feel this trail system offers great longer runs to keep stacking the elevation and want to give the runners the best option for what the Benny Goat Trails have, climbing!

🗺️ Course Details

• 10K Climbing: Roughly 1250 feet of climbing.
• Half Marathon Climbing: Around 2500 feet of climbing.
• Half Marathon Loop: Runners will do a 6.56 mile loop in each direction.
• 10K Route: One lap, with a bit of a short cut.

🕗 Race Day Information

• Start Time: All racers will take off at 8:00 AM Eastern Standard Time.
• Location: Horse Ring of Perry County Park, Hazard, KY. Address: 933 Perry Park Road.
• Pickup Times: Begins at 6:30 AM and closes at 7:45 AM.
• Pre-Race Meeting: Runners please line up at 7:50 for a pre-race meeting.

🏞️ Course Notes

• Terrain: Both courses are full of climbing, technical sections, and are fully wooded.
• Shoe Recommendation: Trail shoes are highly recommended.

⏰ Cutoff Time

• Half Marathon: You must start your second lap before 10:30 AM to begin your second loop.

🏅 Awards

• Finisher Awards: All runners get finisher awards.
• Top Three: Male and female of both the half marathon and 10K get a podium medal.

📍 GPS Information

Your GPS data will likely vary from others, as well as ours. We mapped this in person, with multiple GIS/GPX software and this is the closest rounded off numbers we have consistently gotten. If you don’t have exactly these numbers don’t freak out, and don’t be surprised. Enjoy the time in the woods, the challenge, and the goats!

🍽️ Food and Support

• Snacks: We will have some snacks for during and after the run near the start line.
• Crew Support: Crew is allowed at the start/finish area only for swapping packs, shoes, shirts, etc.
• Water: We recommend everyone run with water. We will have coolers.

🎧 Headphones Policy

• Usage Timing: Headphones are allowed after the first 4 minutes of running.
• Communication: Please take one headphone out or pause your music when approaching any volunteers.
• Start/Finish Area: Please take a headphone out or pause when approaching the start/finish before your next lap.

🗑️ Litter Policy

If you are caught littering on course, you will be disqualified and banned from our events. We will have a trash can near the start/finish to drop any wrappers, bottles, etc. you need there.
