About the Race

The NCR Marathon is Baltimore’s oldest continuously running USATF certified marathon held annually on the Saturday following Thanksgiving.

• History: BRRC presented the historic Maryland Marathon dating back to 1973.
• Trail: The race has been held on the Northern Central Railroad Trail since 1990.
• Course: Scenic wooded run on a crushed gravel and dirt trail alongside Big Gunpowder Falls.
• Distance: 26.2 miles in total.

Race Evolution

• Start Location: Originally at Old Sparks Elementary School.
• Relocation: Moved to the new Sparks Elementary School after a fire.
• Events: Marathon relay introduced in 2003: 8K added for the 25th anniversary.
• Current Start: The marathon course starts at the Oldfields School campus since 2017.

Runner's Race

A lot has changed over the years, but one thing that has stayed the same: this is a runner’s race. And, as runners we take pride in continuing to make the NCR Marathon and Half Marathon a first-class event.

• Course: A FAST course and a great fall Boston Qualifier.
• Finisher's Blanket: Finishers receive a large, coveted blanket.
• Packet Pickup: All participants receive a NCR hoody (unisex sizing).
