Jon Tumilson Go Crush It 5K Challenge

Event Overview

This run honors Navy SEAL Jon Tumilson who was KIA on August 6, 2011 while serving in Afghanistan. All proceeds from the race will support Retrieving Freedom, Inc. to provide service dogs to our veterans.

Background

• Event Purpose: Jon Tumilson was killed along with 29 other Americans and 1 service dog on August 6, 2011 in Afghanistan.
• Non-Profit: His family founded 3 Minutes Out, Inc to help active duty military, veterans, and their families.
• Love for Running: Jon had a passion for running, which inspired this annual event.
• Motivation: The event encourages participants to "Crush Their Excuses to Conquer Their Goals".

Team Registration

• Team Names: Participants are encouraged to create team names.
• Awards: Prizes for the largest Corporate Team and the largest Family Team.
• Virtual Run: An option for those unable to attend in person.
• Registration Reminder: Registrations after July 11, 2025, may not guarantee a race shirt.

Event Details and Schedule

• Friday, July 11, 2025: Last day to register for a guaranteed race t-shirt.
• Friday, July 25, 2025: Race Registration and Packet Pick Up, 4:00-6:30 pm at Rockford Fossil and Prairie Park.
• Saturday, July 26, 2025: Race Registration and Packet Pick Up, 6:30-7:45 am: Opening Ceremony at 8:00 am.
• Race Start Times: 8:30 am for the 5K, 9:30 am for the Jon Tumilson Frogman Fun Run.

Awards and Parade

• Awards Ceremony: Scheduled for 10:00 am at Rockford Fossil and Prairie Park.
• Rockford Fun Days Parade: Begins at 11:30 am on Main Street, with activities and lunch available.
• Merchandise: Jon Tumilson memorial gear will be available only during packet pick up and race day.
• No Fireworks: The final year event will prioritize funds for Retrieving Freedom.
