TCU Theta CASA 5K

🏃‍♀️ Race Overview

• Date: Sunday, September 14th, 2025
• Time: 8:30 a.m.
• Location: Frog Fountain in the TCU Commons, Fort Worth, TX
• Cheer Stations: Each station along the route will be filled with TCU Theta members to cheer on the participants.

🏅 Event History

• Origin: The Gamma Psi chapter of KAO holds an annual 5K run in memory of Tracy Clark, a member of the class of 1993.
• First Event: Tracy's idea for a 5K led to the first Breakaway event in 1997.
• Memorial: The event was renamed in her honor in 1999 after Tracy passed away in an automobile accident.
• Beneficiaries: Proceeds from the race benefit CASA of Tarrant County and the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation.

👶 About CASA

• Adoption: In 1989, Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity adopted National CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocates, as the fraternity’s official philanthropy.
• Volunteer Role: CASA volunteers are trained community volunteers who speak on behalf of abused and neglected children in the court system.
• Judicial Support: Advocates provide valuable information to the judges as to what is best for the child.
• Legal Process: CASA helps expedite the legal process so these children will still have a chance at childhood.

🎓 Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation

• Mission: The Foundation supports the educational, leadership, and philanthropic pursuits of Kappa Alpha Theta members.
• Empowerment: It aims to secure resources that empower Thetas to reach their full potential.
• Theta for Good: The program enables college chapters to fundraise for both the Foundation and other local charitable causes.
• Impact: Participation in fundraising events allows Thetas to cultivate their spirit of philanthropy and create meaningful change.
