Cheering Stations: Each station along the route will be filled with TCU Theta members to cheer on the participants.
💖 Race History
Inception: The Gamma Psi chapter of KAO holds an annual 5K run in memory of Tracy Clark, a member of the class of 1993.
First Event: Tracy's idea for a 5K led to the first Breakaway event in 1997.
Renaming: Tragically, she passed away in an automobile accident at a young age, and the event was renamed in her honor in 1999.
Beneficiaries: The TCU Theta chapter has been organizing the 5K to raise funds for CASA of Tarrant County and the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation.
👶 CASA Mission
Adoption: In 1989, Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity adopted National CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocates, as the fraternity’s official philanthropy.
Role of Volunteers: CASA volunteers are trained community volunteers who speak on behalf of abused and neglected children in the court system.
Legal Support: Advocates provide valuable information to the judges as to what is best for the child.
Childhood Preservation: They also help expedite the legal process so these children will still have a chance at childhood.
🌟 Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation
Support Focus: The Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation supports the educational, leadership, and philanthropic pursuits of Kappa Alpha Theta members.
Mission: Its mission is to secure resources that empower Thetas to reach their full potential and make a positive impact on the world.
Theta for Good: The Foundation's "Theta for Good" program enables college chapters to fundraise not only for the Foundation itself, but also for other charitable causes important to their local communities.
Empowerment: This allows Thetas to cultivate their spirit of philanthropy and create meaningful change through supporting multiple organizations.
