TCU Theta CASA 5K

🏃‍♀️ Event Details

• Date: Sunday, September 14th, 2025
• Time: 8:30 a.m.
• Location: Frog Fountain in the TCU Commons, Fort Worth, TX
• Cheering: Each station along the route will be filled with TCU Theta members to cheer on the participants.

🌟 Event History

• Memory: The Gamma Psi chapter of KAO holds an annual 5K run in memory of Tracy Clark, a member of the class of 1993.
• First Event: Tracy's idea for a 5K led to the first Breakaway event in 1997.
• Renaming: The event was renamed in her honor in 1999 after her tragic passing in an automobile accident.
• Beneficiaries: Funds raised support CASA of Tarrant County and the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation.

👩‍⚖️ CASA Overview

• Adoption: In 1989, Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity adopted National CASA as its official philanthropy.
• Role: CASA volunteers are trained community volunteers who speak on behalf of abused and neglected children in the court system.
• Impact: Advocates provide valuable information to the judges about what is best for the child.
• Goal: They help expedite the legal process to ensure these children still have a chance at childhood.

🎓 Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation

• Support: The Foundation supports the educational, leadership, and philanthropic pursuits of Kappa Alpha Theta members.
• Empowerment: Its mission is to secure resources that empower Thetas to reach their full potential.
• Theta for Good: This program enables college chapters to fundraise for the Foundation and other charitable causes.
• Community Impact: By participating in Theta for Good fundraising events, chapters embrace the vision of giving every member the opportunity to make a difference.
