Autumn March for ALS

Event Overview

The "March" was the brainchild of Jerry Edmundson, former director of the Dyersburg/Dyer County Union Mission. Edmundson created the race in 1991 to promote the Mission's youth programs, and the race has been held on Dyersburg's Square the third Saturday of October every year since. In 2016, when the Mission relinquished sponsorship of the event, Sarah Alley and a committee of supporters renewed the race as the Autumn March for ALS Awareness.

• Time: Race numbers and timer chips will be given by the timer the morning of the race starting at 7:30 AM.

Purpose and Impact

• Proceeds: Go towards Tennessee ALS Chapter, local Senior Scholarships, and supporting Matthew 25:40, Inc.
• Personal Story: Sarah Alley has been living with ALS for 14 years, and attributes this to her Faith in God and love of family, friends, community, and church family.
• Support: The race promotes awareness for ALS and provides community support.

Event Activities

• New Courses: All races will start at the Downtown Farmers Market.
• Family Fun: The event will feature an Auto Show, food trucks, vendors, DJ, bounce house/slide, cake walk, face painting, and door prizes.
• Community Engagement: Bring your family for a day of fun!
• Registration Deadline: Sign up by October 9th to guarantee that you get a race shirt.

Early Packet Pick-up

Early packet pick-up is scheduled for October 16th from 4-7 PM at Holy Angels Catholic Church.
