Welcome to the 44th Annual Shiprock Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K

Shiprock Youth Center – Friday, April 30 & Saturday, May 1, 2027

The 2027 Shiprock Marathon will provide a unique and memorable running experience the first weekend of May in Shiprock, New Mexico!

Event Schedule

5K Trail Race: Begins at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 30 at the Youth Center.
Awards: Top individual (overall and age-group top three) and team winners.
Performance Items: All runners will receive a performance t-shirt, race poster, swag, and post-race snacks.
Elder's Run: Fun-run style at 3 p.m., no timing or awards: each finisher receives a medal.

Marathon Details

Start Time: Marathon begins at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 2.
Race Type: USATF Certified Course, also a Boston Qualifier.
Awards: Age groups awarded to the top 3 in 5 year increments.
Start Position: Runners competing for awards should start in the front.

Half Marathon Details

Start Time: Half Marathon starts at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 2.
Awards: Age groups awarded to the top 3 in 5 year increments.
Participate: Join the excitement of the half marathon!

Team Race Opportunities

Team Race: Available for both the 5K and Half Marathon.
Participation: Each member runs the full race, scoring like a cross country race.
Team Requirement: A team needs at least 5 members to compete for awards.
Registration: Indicate "YES" to team participation during registration.

Course Information

Course Type: Out-and-back road course with views of Shiprock Pinnacle.
Time Cutoffs: Two specific time cutoffs—1st cutoff: off N13 and onto US 491 by noon: 2nd cutoff: finish by 2 p.m.
Entertainment: Live music from local artists along the course.
Support: Great course support and facilities available!

Packet Pickup and Race Day Parking

Packet Pickup: Friday from 2:00-7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 6:00-6:45 a.m.
Parking: Clear directions provided for arriving from Farmington and the south.
Event Parking: Parking assistance will be available on Race Day.
Lodging: Variety of options in Farmington, NM, 30 miles from Shiprock.

Post-Race Information

Food Area: Enjoy a snack box, beverages, and food from local vendors post-race.
Live Music: Music and festivities at the finish line.
Awards: Presented to overall and age-group winners.
Medals: All Marathon and Half Marathon finishers receive a medal.
