Shiprock Marathon

Welcome to the 43nd Annual Shiprock Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K

Shiprock Youth Center – Friday, May 1 &: Saturday, May 2, 2026

The 2026 Shiprock Marathon will provide a unique and memorable running experience the first weekend of May in Shiprock, New Mexico!

Race Events

• 5K Trail Race: Takes place at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1 on the Blueberry Hill course, beginning and ending at the Youth Center.
• Awards: Awards for top individual (overall and age-group top three) and team winners.
• Swag: All runners will receive a performance t-shirt, race poster, swag and post-race snacks.
• Elder’s Run: A new event hosted at 3 p.m. on Friday: these are fun-run style, no timing or awards, but finishers receive a medal.

Marathon Information

• Start Time: Begins at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 2.
• Course Certification: Shiprock Marathon is a USATF Certified Course, making it a Boston Qualifier.
• Age Groups: Awards for top 3 in 5 year increments.
• Half Marathon: Starts at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 2nd, with similar age group awards.

Team Race

• 5K & Half Marathon: Team races available on Friday and Saturday respectively.
• Team Format: Each member runs the full race: teams of 5 qualify for awards.
• No Extra Cost: Just answer 'YES' to join or create a team during registration.
• Registration: The first member needs to create the team name: others can join.

Course Details

• Out-and-Back Course: Features views of Shiprock Pinnacle and a gentle long downhill slope on the return.
• Course Support: Includes aid stations every mile with Honey Stinger gels, fresh fruit, Gatorade, and water.
• Live Music: Entertainment along the course featuring various local bands.
• Cutoffs: Time cutoffs apply: must be off N13 and onto US 491 by noon and finished by 2 p.m.

Race Day Logistics

• Results & Timing: Rocky Mountain Timing will provide results via QR codes or at www.rmtiming.co.
• Aid Stations: Portajohns and medical support available along the course.
• Food Area: Hearty snack boxes and a variety of beverages available post-race.
• Awards Ceremony: Live music, food, and instant results with awards presented for overall and age-group winners.

Parking Information

• Directions: From Farmington hotels, drive west on Hwy 64: follow local directions for event parking.
• Parking Assistance: Our team will help with parking upon arrival.
• Local Lodging: Farmington offers a variety of lodging options approximately 30 miles away from Shiprock.
• Arriving from the South: Parking available on the left as you enter Shiprock.
