Shiprock Marathon

🎉 Welcome to the 43rd Annual Shiprock Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K

Shiprock Youth Center – Friday, May 1 & Saturday, May 2, 2026

The 2026 Shiprock Marathon will provide a unique and memorable running experience the first weekend of May in Shiprock, New Mexico!

🏃 5K Trail Race Details

• Date and Time: 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1
• Location: Blueberry Hill course, beginning and ending at the Youth Center
• Awards: Top individual (overall and age-group top three) and team winners
• Includes: Performance t-shirt, race poster, swag, and post-race snacks

🏅 Marathon Information

• Start Time: 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 2
• Competition: Runners competing for awards should start in the front
• USATF Certified Course: A Boston Qualifier and a qualifier for the Abbott Marathon Majors Masters World Championships
• Age Groups: Awards for the top 3 in 5-year increments

📏 Half Marathon Details

• Start Time: 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 2
• Awards: Top 3 in 5 year increments

👥 Team Race

• 5K Team Race: An opportunity to run with friends
• Eligibility: Teams must have 5 members to compete for awards
• Registration: Indicate team participation during registration

🌄 Course Information

• Course Type: Out-and-back road course featuring views of Shiprock Pinnacle
• Live Music: Enjoy performances from local artists along the course
• Time Cutoffs: Important cutoffs to be aware of
• Support: Great course support and entertainment

📅 Packet Pickup

Will take place at the large Shiprock Youth Center parking lot on Friday from 2:00-7:00 p.m. and again from 6:00-6:45 a.m. on Saturday morning.

🚗 Race Day Parking

• From Farmington: Drive west on Hwy 64, approximately 30 miles to event parking
• From the south: Event parking will be on your left entering Shiprock

📊 Race Day Logistics

• Results & Timing: Timed by Rocky Mountain Timing, with results available via QR codes
• The Course: Aid stations every mile providing refreshments
• Course Cutoffs: Must be off N13 and onto US 491 by noon and finished by 2:00 p.m.

🍕 The Finish Line

• Food Area: Hearty snack box and Domino’s pizza upon finishing
• Post-Race Party: Live music and awards at the finish line
• Awards: Medals for all finishers: awards for overall and age-group winners

🎖️ Acknowledgments

Kudos to our amazing Safety and Medical Team and special mention to SRM partners. Proceeds benefit year-round outdoor adventure programs for Dine’ youth and families.

A wide range of lodging options are available in Farmington, New Mexico, which is a 30-mile drive from Shiprock.

This year’s race is USATF-certified and is a Boston qualifier!

Shiprock Marathon will be a qualifier for the Abbott Marathon Majors Masters World Championships!
