Shiprock Marathon

Welcome to the 44th Annual Shiprock Marathon, Half Marathon &: 5K

Shiprock Youth Center – Friday, April 30 &: Saturday, May 1, 2027

The 2027 Shiprock Marathon will provide a unique and memorable running experience the first weekend of May in Shiprock, New Mexico!

Friday's Events

• Shiprock Marathon Relay: Starting at 12 noon, a five-person marathon relay will run a 5 ¼ mile loop from the Youth Center to Blueberry Hill.
• The Natani Mile: Starts at 2pm, open for competitive runners and walkers. Awards for top winners, with all participants receiving a performance t-shirt and race poster.
• The Elder's Run: Starts at 3pm, a tribute fun-run for elders. Finishers receive a medal.
• Shiprock 5K Trail Race: At 5:00 p.m., a 5K race with awards for the top individual winners. All runners get a performance t-shirt and post-race snacks.

Saturday's Events

• Marathon: Begins at 7:00 a.m., with awards for top 3 in age groups and is a USATF Certified Course.
• Half Marathon: Starts at 7:30 a.m., with awards for the top 3 in age groups.
• Out-and-Back Road Course: Features views of Shiprock Pinnacle, with live music along the way.
• Packet Pick-up: Takes place on Friday from 2:00-7:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 6:00-6:45 a.m.

Saturday’s Race Day Parking

• From Farmington: Drive west on Hwy 64, and follow directions to parking.
• If you are coming from the south: Event parking will be on your left as you enter Shiprock.
• Lodging Options: A wide variety available in Farmington, NM, just 30 miles from Shiprock.
• Parking Assistance: Look for our parking team to help you park and get situated.

Race Day Logistics

• Results &: Timing: Results will be available via QR codes posted throughout the finish area.
• The Course and Course Support: Aid stations will be available every mile with medical support throughout.
• Course Cutoffs: Runners must be off N13 and onto US 491 by noon and finished by 2pm.

The Finish Line

• Food Area: Expect a hearty snack box upon finishing and options from local food vendors.
• Post-Race Party &: Awards: Live music, food, and awards for all finishers based on gun time.
• Awards: Overall and age-group awards based on 5-year age groups, including Native arts and crafts.

Additional Information

• Safety and Medical Team: Includes local emergency services ensuring participant safety.
• Proceeds Benefit: Supports year-round outdoor adventure programs for Dine’ youth and families.
• Pacing Support: Provided by Beast Pacing, available for participants looking to hit specific times.
