Welcome to the 43nd Annual Shiprock Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K
Shiprock Youth Center – Friday, May 1 & Saturday, May 2, 2026
Overview
The 2026 Shiprock Marathon will provide a unique and memorable running experience the first weekend of May in Shiprock, New Mexico!
Race Information
- 5K Trail Race: Takes place at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1 on the Blueberry Hill course, beginning and ending at the Youth Center.
- Awards: Awards for top individual (overall and age-group top three) and team winners.
- Participants: All runners will receive a performance t-shirt, race poster, swag and post-race snacks.
- New Events: The Elder's Run at 3pm on Friday will be fun-run style, so no timing or awards. Each finisher will receive a finishers medal.
Marathon Details
- Start Time: The Marathon will begin at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 2.
- Certification: Shiprock Marathon is a USATF Certified Course, making it a Boston Qualifier.
- Awards: Age groups are awarded to the top 3 in 5 year increments.
- Half Marathon: Starts at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 2nd with similar age-group awards.
Team Race
- 5K Team Race: A team race on Friday evening for the 5K.
- Half Marathon & Marathon Team Race: Team races will be available on Saturday.
- Team Requirement: The event needs a team of 5 to compete (qualify for awards).
- Registration: Create a team name during registration for others to join: no extra cost.
Course Information
- Course Type: An out-and-back road course with views of Shiprock Pinnacle.
- Live Music: Enjoy great course support and live music along the way.
- Cutoffs: There are two time cutoffs on the course to be aware of.
- Course Support: Aid stations every mile with medical support throughout the route.
Packet Pick-Up
Packet pick-up will take place at the large Shiprock Youth Center parking lot on Friday from 2:00-7:00 p.m. and again from 6:00-6:45 a.m. on Saturday morning.
Race Day Logistics
- Results & Timing: Results will be available via QR codes posted throughout the finish area or at www.rmtiming.co. All awards are based on gun time.
- Course Support: Aid stations will include Honey Stinger gels, fresh fruit, Gatorade and water, and portajohns available at start lines.
- Course Cutoffs: Runners must be off N13 and onto US 491 by noon (12pm) and must finish by 2pm.
The Finish Line
- Food Area: Receive a hearty snack box and visit the Domino’s food truck for pizza.
- Post-Race Party: Live music and awards presented to finishers at the finish line.
- Awards: Overall awards and age-group awards based on 5-year age groups.

There are a wide range of lodging options available in Farmington, New Mexico, which is a 30-mile drive from Shiprock.
Certification
This year’s race is USATF-certified and is a Boston qualifier! The Shiprock Marathon will also be a qualifier for the Abbott Marathon Majors Masters World Championships! More information can be found here.
