🏃‍♂️ Colton's Main Street Run Overview

The date is set for the 16th annual Colton's Main Street Run. The Run is held in memory of Colton Sherrill, son of Trace and Dena Sherrill. The 10-year old athlete and Durant Main Street volunteer passed away 17 years ago while playing basketball from an unknown heart defect.

💰 Proceeds and Benefits

The proceeds will be used for various educational and community projects, including:

• Emergency Equipment: 182 AEDs purchased for area schools and the community-provided training and yearly supplies for schools.
• Support for Schools: Donated 645 Stop the Bleed Kits and 74 LifeVac Choking Rescue Devices to area schools.
• Field Improvements: Purchased bleachers for Colton's Field and player benches for other soccer fields at Durant Sports Complex.
• Scholarships: Endowed the Colton Sherrill Memorial Scholarship Fund at Southeastern Oklahoma State University providing 44 scholarships to area students.

🌟 Community Contributions

To date, the proceeds have benefited our community as follows:

• PPE Funding: Donated $25,000 to county schools for PPE.
• Cross-Country Support: Created the Crooked Smile Trail in partnership with Southeastern Oklahoma State University for local cross-country teams and the public.
• ADA Accessibility: Funded 2 ADA Wheelchair Swing Sets at Durant City Parks.
• CPR Classes: Conducted CPR and AED classes in partnership with Bryan County EMS.

📈 Recent Achievements

In 2024, we provided $74,000 in grants and community support to fund health and safety projects in Oklahoma.
