WAWA Adventure Crawl

🏃‍♂️ Event Overview

We want to welcome you to the 2nd Annual WAWA Adventure Crawl AKA WAC, where we will take you on a journey of a 50k ish distance and newly added 20 miler to 5 Wawa's in the Middleburg, Orange Park, and Argyle Forest area (Jacksonville Florida area).

• Event Type: This is NOT A RACE: it is an adventure event.
• Participation: You must purchase an item from each store to "check in" and support local businesses.
• Charity: A portion of the proceeds will go to a local non-profit Animal Rescue/Shelter TBD.
• Team Format: Partner with at least one other runner: you must start and finish together.

🛑 Safety and Regulations

This is strictly an Urban event and you MUST obey all traffic laws. Can ONLY cross streets at intersections with a stop light or a stop sign.

• Crew Assistance: Allowed only at Wawa's stores: no other businesses or private properties.
• Exception: Assistance allowed on the final leg at the Publix shopping center on Oakleaf Plantation Parkway.
• Starting Point: 20 mile event begins at the Best Bet poker room on US 17 and Wells road.
• Parking: Park in designated areas: return rides provided if parked at the poker room.

🎖️ Participant Experience

While we are keeping this a low key event and a no thrills type of adventure, the RD Sombrero Dude just can't help himself and will give away some sort of "participant award".

• Awards: Finisher medals and other Rule 62 type "awards".
• Timing: This is a timed event, but no high-end timing equipment will be used.
• Navigation: Route will be posted as a GPX file: minimal directional arrows provided.
• Emergency Contact: Participants must carry a cell phone for emergencies.

🐾 Community Contribution

We also have an added requirement for this event to give back to our community partner.

• Donations: Bring dog/cat food or items that benefit the shelter animals.
• Optional Support: A donate button option will be available for additional funds.
• Capacity: There will be a 60 person capacity to keep it a small affair.
• Beneficiary: Our event beneficiary is the Friends of Jacksonville Animals.
