🏃‍♂️ Mayor's 5K on the 5th Runway - 10th Anniversary

• Race Details: Celebrating its 10th anniversary, this race welcomes runners of all abilities to the 5th runway at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on October 5, 2024.
• Registration: Limited to the first 2,000 participants for this USATF-certified 5K course, an AJC Peachtree Road Race qualifier.
• Beneficiary: Proceeds benefit the Mayor’s Youth Scholarship Program and United Way of Greater Atlanta.

📋 Race Information

• Commemorative Items: Participants receive a T-shirt and medal.
• Age Limit: Participants must be 10 years or older: minors must be accompanied by a registered adult.
• Warm-up: Limited space for warm-up: walkers should stay to the right.
• Guide Runners: Participants needing a guide runner must ensure they are registered accordingly.

🕒 Race Day Schedule

• Parking Lot Opens: 3:30 a.m. at Georgia International Convention Center.
• Race # Pickup Begins: 4:00 a.m. at ATL’s Tech Campus parking lot.
• Race Start Time: 6:30 a.m. on the 5th Runway.
• Finish Time: Participants must be off the runway by 7:30 a.m.

🚫 Race Rules

1. Participants must maintain a 17-minute pace to be off the active runway by 7:30 a.m.
2. Compliance with all laws related to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is mandatory.
3. Check-in by 6 a.m. is required: same-day registration is not allowed.
4. No child under 10 is allowed on airport property: minors must be accompanied by a registered adult.

😷 COVID-19 Protocols

1. Exclusion for individuals exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms or recent exposure.
2. Face mask policy is subject to change based on health protocols.
3. Social distancing and hand sanitization are encouraged.
4. Adjustments to protocols may be made based on the health environment on race day.

🚗 Transportation & Parking

• Carpooling: Highly recommended.
• Parking: Available at Georgia International Convention Center: shuttle service provided.
• Ride Sharing: Drop-off and pick-up at the Convention Center with free shuttle service.
• MARTA: Shuttle buses from Airport MARTA station to the race site.

🏆 Awards

• Award Categories: Overall male/female, and top finishers per age group.
• Criteria: Awards based on net time: only timed runners qualify.

• Ecological Initiative: Donate new, used, or worn-out shoes to EcoSneakers for recycling or repurposing in the Atlanta community.
• Collection: Bins available in the race # pickup area.

💻 Virtual Race

• Remote Participation: Run or walk the 5K at your convenience: submit results online.
• Virtual Kit: Includes a T-shirt and medal upon completion.
