About this race
Event Overview
The Statesboro 5K Turkey Trot is an annual fundraising event for the Bulloch County Foundation for Public School Education. All proceeds are used to fund the Foundation's innovation grants for teachers, college scholarships for Bulloch County's REACH Georgia Scholars, and support the Bulloch County Teacher of the Year and Bulloch County STAR Student/Teacher programs. Thank you for your participation. Your support truly makes a difference in the lives of teachers and students.
Registration Information
- August 11, 2026 - Registration Opens
- October 31, 2026 - Register by this date to guarantee a t-shirt size
- November 1, 2026 - Registration pricing increases by $5 on this date at 11:59 p.m.
- November 8, 2026 - Register by this date to receive a t-shirt and race packet: Sizes not guaranteed after Oct. 31.
We encourage you to register as an individual or gather friends and co-workers and register as a team of five or more people to receive a discount. Also, you can also register children 12 years old and younger for the Fun Run, which is a 100-yard dash prior to the main race.
Early Packet Pick Up for Pre-registered Participants
Participants who are registered by November 16, 2026, may pick up their race packet early. Early race packet pick up is scheduled for Friday, November 20, 2026, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the Bulloch County Board of Education, located at 150 Williams Road, in Statesboro, GA. Enter the Boardroom entrance to the right of Entrance A at the front of the building.
Event Schedule
- 8:30 a.m. - Mascot Run – Free
- 8:45 a.m. - 12 & Under Fun Run – $15
- 9:00 a.m. - 5K Turkey Trot – $30 or $25 per person for teams of five or more
- 10:30 a.m. - Awards presentations & 50-50 Raffle Drawing on the Courthouse Square
Giveaways
Participants who register by October 31, 2026 are guaranteed a race packet of giveaways and a t-shirt that is their preferred size.
Race Day Attire
Participants are encouraged to wear team-themed t-shirts and/or Thanksgiving costumes.

Race Route
Set in the heart of downtown Statesboro's historic retail and residential neighborhoods, it’s fun for the whole family. Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome. Wagons, strollers and even family-friendly canines on leashes are welcome. Walk as an individual or form a team. The route is available digitally on Run Sign Up.
About the Foundation
The Bulloch County Foundation for Public School Education, which is a 501(c)3 charitable organization, hosts the event each year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. The Foundation is managed by a 12-member board of trustees who meets monthly.
- Funding: Since 2006, the Bulloch County Foundation for Public Education has funded more than 320 innovative classroom teacher grants totaling more than $406,087.
- Scholarships: The Foundation funds Bulloch County School’s annual participation in the REACH Georgia Scholarship Program.
- Awards: The Foundation annually provides $4,500 in stipend awards to the district's 15 school-level teachers of the year.
- Community Support: The Foundation gives individuals and businesses a way to invest in local education programs.
