• Benefit: The Running Scared 5k benefits Youth Education.
• Funds Raised: Approximately $350,000 has been raised to help children in the Cincinnati Valley area.

🏃‍♂️ Event Overview

• First Event: The Running Scared 5k started in 2008.
• Course: A flat 3.1 mile course through a “spooky” cemetery, ending at a fabulous Halloween Fest.
• Costumes: Participants are encouraged to run/walk in costumes.
• Post Race Party: Enjoy music, food, and drinks from generous sponsors.

• Race Time: The 18th Annual Running Scared 5k is at 6 pm.
• Post Race Party: 6:30 pm - 10 pm inside and outside of Haffey Fieldhouse.

🛣️ Course Details

• Course Start: The race will start on West Street near the Stadium.
• Route: Wind through the “spooky” Reading Cemetery and head out and back.
• Water Stations: Water at the start, middle, and end of the route.
• Participants: Runners and walkers are welcome.

🏆 Awards

• Famous Mugs: Given to the first 50 men and the first 50 women crossing the finish line.

📊 Results

• Overall Results: Will be posted at the post-race party.
• Complete Results: Will also be posted online.

🎉 After the Race

• Party: Enjoy a fantastic party inside and outside of Haffey Fieldhouse.
• Food: Lots of food from wonderful sponsors.
• Costume Contest: Prizes awarded.
• Music: Live music by "BAM Entertainment".

• Eligibility: Register in advance to be eligible for fabulous door prizes.

• Tickets: Raffle tickets will be sold at the after party.

💻 Virtual 5K

• Participation: Support the event with our Virtual event.
• Post Results: Post your times on our Virtual Results Page anytime between 10/1/2024 and 10/19/2024.

💲 Registration Cost

• 5K Registration: $30 through October 16, $35 on October 17, and $40 Race Day.
• Party Only: $20, includes food, drinks, and entertainment.
• Children's Fee: All kids 13 and under can participate for only $20.

👕 T-Shirts

• Availability: Shirts are available for $17 (short-sleeved) and $20 (long-sleeved).
• Order Deadline: To be guaranteed your size, please order by 10/2/2025.

• Online Registration: Available through race day.
• Mail Registration: Postmark your registration by Monday, October 13, 2025.

📦 Packet Pick Up

• Early Packet Pick Up: Friday, Oct. 17, 2025 from Noon - 6 pm at Haffey Fieldhouse.
• Race Day Packet Pick Up: Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025 from 4 pm - 5:45 pm at Veteran’s Memorial Stadium.

🚗 Free Parking

• Parking Location: Available near Haffey Fieldhouse and Reading Veteran’s Memorial Stadium.
• Note: If you park in the lot, you cannot leave until the last person finishes the race.
