Moonlight on the Falls - Marathon, Half Marathon, Quarter Marathon, and Distance Challenge

🌙 Event Overview

• Date: August 29-30, 2026
• Location: Blackwater Falls State Park, Tucker County, West Virginia
• Races Offered: Marathon, Half Marathon, Distance Challenge (Ultra Marathon), Relay, and Quarter Marathon
• Course: Approximately 6.55-mile loop, starting and ending at Pendleton Point

🌌 Nighttime Running Experience

• Nighttime Atmosphere: Enjoy perfect running temperatures in cool late summer mountain nights
• Start Time: Distance Challenge begins at 10 PM and runs until 7:45 AM
• Costumes: Glow sticks and fun lighting are encouraged to enhance your outfit!
• Temperature: Average nighttime temperatures around 55 degrees

🎉 Festival Atmosphere

• Packet Pick Up: Experience a festival-like atmosphere with live music, vendors, and food
• Outdoor Recreation: Explore endless outdoor activities in the beautiful Davis and Thomas area
• Community Vibe: A true destination experience for participants and spectators alike

⚠️ Safety Requirements

• Safety Gear: All participants must wear a reflective vest or similar gear and a headlamp
• Park Roads Closure: Outside traffic is not allowed at night for safety purposes
• Fun with Lighting: Runners are encouraged to enhance their outfits with fun lighting
• Be Prepared: Ensure you have appropriate lighting equipment for a safe experience

• Course Details: The course is entirely paved and starts and finishes at Pendleton Point
• Team Setup: One person sets up their team for the Distance Challenge with a password for teammates

🏆 Distance Challenge Details

• Timing Chips: Each team member will have a timing chip on their bib for accurate scoring
• Laps Scoring: The challenge will be scored based on total laps run by solo participants or teams
• Flexible Running: Any team member can run at the same time at any point throughout the night
• Sunrise Celebration: Breakfast for Distance Challenge participants at 7 AM with special treats!
