South Mountain 5k, 10k and Fun Run

Event Overview

We are excited to return to Catawba Meadows Greenway in Morganton, NC for the SMBC 5K, 10K, and Fun Run in 2026!

History of South Mountain

• Inception: Since the inception of South Mountain Baptist Camp in 1957 in the South Mountains of North Carolina,
• Goal: the goal was to provide an environment that fosters spiritual growth through disconnecting from the world so as to connect with God.
• Activities: Time in nature, being exposed to new skills, and making friends enables children, teenagers, and adults to learn about Jesus Christ and the message of salvation.

Race Purpose

• Affordability: South Mountain seeks to keep camp affordable for everyone.
• Cost Offset: The camp offsets the cost by around $100 per camper: estimated camp cost is $205 per week, true cost over $300.
• Proceeds: Proceeds from each race go directly to the camp’s operating budget.
• Participation: This race celebrates God’s work through South Mountain and the ability to experience a great, low-cost camp.
