Andy Payne Route 66 Race

🏁 Event Overview

On April 12, 2025, the Claremore Museum of History and the Cherokee Nation will officially kick off Oklahoma's Route 66 centennial celebrations with the Andy Payne Route 66 5K and Fun Run. The race proceeds will go towards funding next year's run. The goal is to expand the run to a half marathon and ultimately a marathon that will be held on the historic Mother Road – Route 66.

🏆 Honoring Andy Payne

The race also honors Cherokee Nation citizen Andy Payne, who won the International Trans-Continental Footrace in 1928, running 3,423 miles along Route 66 from Los Angeles to New York City.

• Awards Ceremony: At the MOH will be a fun-filled event with free massages for runners from Reset Chiropractic.
• Food & Drinks: Teas from 6:19 Nutrition and food trucks will be available.
• Selfie Spots: Enjoy popcorn, snacks and more!
• Exhibit: Visitors can take a photo with the Andy Payne statue and learn more about Andy at the Andy Payne exhibit inside the museum.

📍 Location

Claremore High School, 201 E. Stuart Roosa, Claremore, OK 74017.
The Fun Run takes place at the Andy Payne track at Claremore High School.
The 5K will begin west of the intersection of E. Stuart Roosa and Florence Avenue.

🅿️ Parking

From Florence Avenue, parking is available at Claremore High School or Will Rogers Junior High School. E. Stuart Roosa will be closed to traffic for this race.

🗓️ Schedule

• 6:30 a.m. Registration and packet pickup
• 7:45 a.m. Same-day registration ends
• 8:00 a.m. Fun Run
• 8:30 a.m. 5K
• 9:30 a.m. Award presentation at the Claremore Museum of History

🏃‍♂️ Course

USATF sanctioned/certified 5K course with electronic timing by Tatur Racing.
Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each gender and age group category.

👕 Shirt Information

Registration for a guaranteed T-shirt closes at midnight on March 27. Shirts are not guaranteed when registering after this date, and we will not exchange shirt sizes.

💻 Virtual Race

Runners who sign up for the virtual race by midnight on March 27 are guaranteed a shirt.
T-shirts will be mailed after race day.

🎟️ Packet Pick-up

Packet pickup begins on Friday, April 11, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Claremore Museum of History, located at 121 N. Weenonah Avenue, Claremore, OK 74017.

• Contents: You will receive your bib, swag items and race t-shirt.
• Bonus Item: An extra t-shirt being given out by Andy Payne family member, Ryan Payne and MMS Payne Funeral home.
• Avoid Lines: To avoid lines on race day, pick up your packet and swag on Friday at the Claremore Museum of History.
• Merchandise: You can also purchase a special Andy Payne Race tank top or hat that will benefit the race event for next year.

Race Day packet pickup will be available at the registration table from 6:30 to 7:45 a.m.
