5th Annual 5K Run/Walk for Life

🏃‍♂️ Event Overview

The Family Life Center will be hosting its 5th Annual 5K Run/Walk for Life! Please help us make this race a huge success and allow us to continue to provide education, parenting classes, ultrasounds and help to young families in the area.

• Date: Saturday, May 10, 2025
• Location: Effingham Performance Center

🗓️ Schedule of Events

• Thursday, May 8, 2025: Packet Pickup from 2:00pm – 5:00pm at Family Life Center, 605 Eden Ave, Effingham, IL
• Saturday, May 10, 2025:
• 7:00 – 7:45 am: Late Registration and Packet Pick Up
• 8:00 am: 5K Run/Walk Start

9:15 am: Awards for 1st-3rd place in each age group will be awarded

9:30 am: Prayer Warrior Walk will begin (no medals given for this walk)

💵 Registration Fees

• 5K: $25 per person or $75/family of 5
• Note: Race shirt not included after April 28th – small quantities available for purchase on race day
• Registration includes: race entry, T-shirt*, packet, bib, and timed chip. Rain or shine, no refunds.
• Day of Registration: Registration is available on race day. T-shirts will be available in small quantities and can be purchased separately on race day.

❓ Race Day FAQ

• Race Packet Pick-up: Packet pick-up will be located at Family Life Center, 605 Eden Ave, Effingham, IL 62401 on Thursday: 2pm - 5pm At the EPC, 1325 Outer Belt W, Effingham, IL 62401 on Saturday: 7:00am - 7:45am
• Facilities: EPC will be available for restrooms only.
• Course: The 5K Run/Walk for Life starts at EPC, continues through the Trek Trail (paved), and returns to the EPC. The course does have some hills and flat portions with beautiful scenery.
• Safety: Portions of the course will remain open to traffic.

⏱️ Timing and Race Number

• Timing: Bib timing will be provided by Kinetic Timing. You must pick up your official race bib at the designated packet pick-up time.
• Race Number: Pin your race number/bib to the front of your shirt, plainly and visibly to race officials, drivers, photographers, and spectators.
• All participants: Must wear an official race number/bib.

💧 Health and Safety

• Hydration: Drink fluids before, during and after the race. Stay hydrated!
• Water Stations: There will be a water station along the course.
• Traffic Control: Provided by FLC volunteers and the Effingham Police Dept.
• Responsibility: Safety is ultimately your own responsibility. Watch for traffic!

🚑 First Aid Stations

• First Aid: First aid will be provided by nurses from the Family Life Center.

🏆 Awards

Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers in each age group and must be claimed at the event. The age groups are as follows:

• Under 20
• 20 - 35
• 36 - 50
• 51 - 65
• 66 and Over

🚗 Parking

Free parking is available in the South East Parking Lot of the EPC. Signs will be posted.
