Expedition 12K Trail Race

WHEN & WHERE:

2026 DATE TBD at Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park in Cardwell, Montana

REGISTRATION:

• Includes: chip timing, park entry, a custom race shirt plus additional custom item, post-race brunch and drink, and a chance to win top awards and raffle prizes

COURSE:

• Type: Primarily single-track trail with a few asphalt road crossings
• Features: Sharp turns and sweeping views of the Jefferson Valley
• Elevation: Covering 2,200+ ft. of vertical gain and 2,100+ ft. of vertical loss
• Conditions: Trails are typically dry and clear of snow and mud, however mid-April can be unpredictable

AID STATIONS:

• Availability: Two cupless aid stations along the course
• Requirements: You must provide your own cup/hydration system or consider purchasing your own reusable race cup with race registration

PACKET PICKUP:

• Date: Saturday at Bozeman Running Company from 10 AM - 5 PM
• Race Morning: 8 AM - 8:45 AM at the park reserved for traveling runners or those who are unable to make it into BRC on Saturday
• Note: By picking up your gear on Saturday, you help us greatly in kicking this race off on time

CARPOOLING:

• Encouragement: We highly encourage you to carpool to the event if possible
• Benefits: Helps manage the number of available parking spots and reduces our carbon footprint
• Instructions: Please follow the parking attendants upon entering

TRAIL CARE:

• Focus: This is a cupless race and we ask that you help us in keeping the trail clean
• Principle: Leave No Trace — pack all trash, GU packets, and wrappers with you
• Directions: Stay on all designated trails and follow the race flags
• Advice: Do not cut trails or switchbacks. Run through mud and snow sections, not around them

AWARDS:

Awards will be distributed to top Male, Female and Non Binary categories.

RACE POLICIES:

• This race does not qualify for bib transfers, cancellations or rollovers
• If you wish to have the ability to receive a refund in case something comes up and you are no longer able to attend, you must purchase REGSHIELD Race Insurance at registration checkout. You may not purchase it at a later date
• If you have purchased REGSHIELD and need to request a refund, select the “File A Refund Request” at the bottom of your confirmation email that you received from REGSHIELD
• Refunds are not managed by Bozeman Running Company, and must be handled through REGSHIELD, a FANSHIELD product
