• Fee: $25 (covers event T-shirt, water, refreshments)

• Race Day registration: Closes at 7:00 am
• Timing: Mass start: not timed

🏋️‍♀️ 5K 7-Lap Stair Challenge Race

• Start time: 8:45 a.m.
• Fee: $35: $30 for active-duty first responders (covers event T-shirt, water, refreshments)
• Registration: Online registration only: closes at 4:00 pm on Friday, September 8, 2023.
• Capacity: Maximum of 400 athletes accepted
• Timing: Chip timing

📅 Race Details

• Wave structure: Waves will be formed IN THE ORDER OF REGISTRATION (first five registered, first wave: next five registered, second wave, etc.).
• Wave start: Waves will start every minute. Participants will be notified of their wave start time via email prior to the race date.
• Course closure: Course closes at 11:30 a.m.

🏆 Team Challenge

• Team categories: The teams that register with the most team members in Family, Co-workers, and Friends will win a Team Challenge award.

💰 Pledge Challenge

• Fundraising goal: All participants are encouraged to raise at least $50 in donations to support Galena-based first responders and the Historical Society.
• Pledge sheet: Print the online pledge sheet from this website to gather support from friends and family or use your unique URL to direct people to donate to your registration or team.
• Funding prizes: The top three individual fundraisers will receive special prizes!
• Submission: Submit pledge sheet(s) and money at Packet Pickup to be eligible for fundraiser prizes.

📝 Race Registration

• Registration link: Online only at: https://runsignup.com/herosforhistory-signup
• Registration period: Beginning Monday, July 10
• Capacity: Maximum of 400 timed participants (no limit to fun run/walk participants)
• Closing condition: Registrations will CLOSE when race filled or at midnight on September 8, whichever comes first.
• T-shirt guarantee: Registrations after September 1 will NOT be guaranteed a T-shirt

🥇 Awards and Medals

• Medals: Medals for top 3 male and female finishers in each age division.
• Special awards: Customized award (and bragging rights) for top overall male and top overall female.

📍 Event Staging Areas

• Location: Green Street Plaza near City Hall and Post Office/Custom House
• Packet pickup: Friday at the DeSoto House Hotel from 4 to 6 p.m. OR Saturday morning Green Street Plaza and the Post Office/Custom House from 6:30 to 7:45 a.m.
• Opening Ceremony: 8 a.m. Saturday
• Award Ceremony: 10:30 a.m.

🚦 Additional Race Details

• Starting Line: Near Miller Steinke Funeral Home parking area or Bench Street staging area.
• Wave queue: Volunteers will queue waves here in numerical order after escorting them from Green Street Plaza.
• Lap Notification/Finish Line: on Bench Street near Miller Steinke Funeral Home.
• Recovery area: Lap 7 finishers recovery area with water.
