Long Beach Race for Rare 5K Run & Walk Event

Event Overview

Join the National MPS Society at the 5th Annual Long Beach Race for Rare 5K Run & Walk Event hosted by Long Beach locals, Lynn and Scott Hopkins!

This event is to raise money and awareness to help change the lives of those living with a rare disease. 10% of Americans suffer from a rare disease and less than 5% have an FDA-approved treatment. 3 out of 10 children with a rare condition do not live to see their 5th birthday, and we work to change this. Proceeds benefit the National MPS Society.

Race Details

• 7:30 AM: Onsite registration, packet pick-up, and pre-race entertainment
• 9:00 AM: 5K Run/Walk
• 10:00 AM: Awards/Raffle
• 10:30 AM: Beachside Picnic

Lunch is included in registration costs. Come out and enjoy a fun day to help raise awareness and funds for our MPS and ML families!

Start Your Team Fundraiser!

• Step 1: At the top, hover over "Donate"
• Step 2: Select "become a fundraiser"
• Step 3: Create your team page - Choose your photo, team name, bio and fundraising goal!
• Step 4: Share the link for people to donate directly to your fundraiser! You can do this before or after you register

Participate Virtually!

It is just like any other 5K, except there is no official race location. You get to choose where, with whom, and even how you want to complete the 5K. By participating virtually, you can run the 5K at any time leading up to October 10th. It can even be done in increments, keep track of your distance until you hit the 5K!
