Oak Openings Stampede

🏃‍♂️ Race Overview

• Event Date: September 14, 2025
• Location: Oak Openings Metropark, Whitehouse, OH
• Distances: Two options available, 25K and 5K (walkers welcome)
• Scenery: Beautiful trails through hardwood and pine forests, open prairie, and alongside stream sides

📅 Schedule and Pick-Up

• Packet Pick-Up: Race Day at the Buehner Center, 7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.
• Race Start Times:
  • 25K - 9:00 a.m.
  • 5K - 9:15 a.m.
• Guaranteed T-shirt Deadline: 9/1/2025
• Event Timing: All events will be chip timed

🌲 Race Details

• Course Markings: 5K - white surveyor flags: 25K - pink surveyor flags and yellow blazes
• Cut-off Times: No official cut-off time: finish by 12:30 p.m.
• Parking: Limited parking at the Buehner Center: carpools encouraged
• Drop Out Procedures: Notify a responsible person if you need to drop out

💧 Aid Stations

• For the 25K: Located on scout trail loop at approximately 2.0, 4.9, 8.2, 10.7, 13.5
• For the 5K: One aid station at about 1.5 miles with water only
• Hydration: Consider carrying a hand-held bottle or hydration pack
• Supplies: No gels provided: bring your own if needed

🥳 Post-Race Activities

• Food: Provided inside the Buehner Center: BYOB allowed
• Awards: Awards for overall categories for 5K and 25K immediately at the finish
• Age Group Awards: In 10-year increments and 3 places deep
• Lodging: Day's Inn nearby and camping options available

📜 Trail Etiquette

• Horses: Everyone yields to horses on the trail
• Bikes: Must yield to walkers/runners, especially between miles 7 and 9
• Walkers: Please step aside for runners to pass
• Headphones: Use low volume to remain aware of your surroundings
