Panther Creek Challenge Half Marathon, 10K and Kids Trail Mile

TIME & PLACE

• Race Start: Half Marathon and 10K races start at 9:00 am.
• Kids Race Start: 8:30 am.
• Location: Starts/finishes at The Overlook pavilion of Panther Creek State Park off US Highway 11E North in Morristown.

DIRECTIONS

• From Knoxville: Take Exit 394 (Hwy 11E North) and travel 35 miles.
• Turn Left: Onto Panther Creek Road (by the BP Station) and travel 2.5 miles.
• From I-81 North: Take Exit 12 (Hwy 160) and turn right onto Hwy 160 (North) to Hwy 11 E.
• Look for: BP Station, then take a left on Panther Creek Road and travel 2.5 miles to the park entrance on the right.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

• Location: Thirty-five miles northeast of Knoxville at Panther Creek State Park.
• Distance: Half marathon near length, 10k shorter race.
• Trails: Present a good test of fitness and a tour of the park.
• Course Features: Begin at the overlook, descend steep single track, and include circuitous loops through woods and along lake.

TTT SERIES AWARDS

• Awards: Top 3 in each division win free race entries.
• Lucky Draw: Two lucky runners get a pair of shoes, sponsored by Runners Market.
• Awards Ceremony: Held at KTC Holiday Party in December.
• Qualifications: Must be a KTC member and volunteer twice during the season.

COURSE ETIQUETTE

• Disqualification: Unsportsmanlike conduct or abuse to volunteers may lead to disqualification.
• Prohibited Items: No headsets, bicycles, strollers, roller blades, or pets on the course.

SAFETY

• Aid Stations: Provided, but runners are encouraged to carry their own water.
• Insect Precautions: Carry personal medication if sensitive to stings or bites.
• Training: Pre-race offroad training is highly recommended.

SAFETY POLICY CLARIFICATION

• Age Requirement: Runners under 12 must be accompanied by an adult for the adult race.
• Pace Requirement: 18:00/mile minimum pace enforced: a sweeper will be present.
• Importance: Helps manage volunteer time in the woods.

BIB USAGE POLICY

• No Bib Sharing: Don’t take a bib if you’re not running: it ensures everyone’s safety.
• Drop Out Notification: Inform race officials if you cannot finish.
• Perfect Bib: Avoid damaging the bib for accurate timing and place recording.
