🏃‍♂️ Panther Creek Challenge Half Marathon, 10K and Kids Trail Mile

🕒 TIME & PLACE

• Start Times: Half Marathon and 10K races start at 9:00 am. KIDS RACE starts at 8:30 am.
• Location: Starts/finishes at The Overlook pavilion of Panther Creek State Park off US Highway 11E North in Morristown.

🗺️ DIRECTIONS

• From Knoxville: Take Exit 394 (Hwy 11E North) and travel 35 miles. Take a left onto Panther Creek Road (by the BP Station) and travel 2.5 miles. Park entrance is on the right.
• From North on I-81: Take Exit 12 (Hwy 160). At the end of the ramp, take a right on Hwy 160 (North) to Hwy 11 E. Turn right on 11E. Look for the BP Station. Take a left on Panther Creek Road. Travel 2.5 miles and the park entrance is on the right.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

• Location: The Treadin' Trodden Trails team is excited to travel thirty-five miles northeast of Knoxville to Panther Creek State Park.
• Distance: The longer distance option will be near a half marathon in length, and the shorter race will cover 10k.
• Trail Experience: Both trails will present runners with a good test of their fitness, as well as offer a delightful tour of the park.
• Course Features: Both courses will begin at the overlook, descend a steep single track, and wind through the woods along the lake.

🏆 GRAND PRIX POINTS

• Points Distribution: Full points (i.e., 100, 90, etc.) for the long race, Half points (i.e., 50, 45, etc.) for the shorter race.

🥇 TTT SERIES AWARDS

• Awards: Top 3 in each division get free race entries.
• Drawing: Two lucky runners will receive a pair of shoes, thanks to Runners Market.
• Eligibility: Must be a member of KTC and have volunteered twice during the trail race season.

📈 RESULTS

• Availability: Results will be available on this RunSignup page at the Results link.

🛑 COURSE ETIQUETTE

• Conduct: Disqualification for unsportsmanlike conduct or abuse to volunteers.
• Restrictions: No headsets, bicycles, strollers, roller blades, or pets on the course.

🛡️ SAFETY

• Stations: Aid and water stations will be provided, but all runners are urged to carry their own water.
• Medication: Recommended for anyone sensitive to insect stings or bites.
• Training: Strongly advised to do pre-race training offroad for a better experience.

🔒 SAFETY POLICY CLARIFICATION

• Age Requirement: Runners under 12 must be accompanied by an adult for adult races.
• Pace Enforcement: 18:00/mile minimum pace must be maintained.

🚫 DON'T TAKE A BIB IF YOU'RE NOT RUNNING

• Safety Concern: Taking a bib indicates you are running: if you do not finish, it complicates safety efforts.
• Drop Out Procedure: Let race officials know if you are dropping out to keep track of participants.
