SARR Prickly Pear

🏃‍♂️ Race Overview

IN-PERSON RACE 3/07/25 - Join the San Antonio RoadRunners for the 22nd running of the Prickly Pear — the race offers 50K, 15K, and 5K distances run on the natural trails of McAllister Park.

⏰ Start Times / Course Cutoff

• 50K Start: 6am, three 10.34 mile loops.
• 15K Start: 8am, one 9.36 mile loop.
• 5K Start: 8:30am, 3.38 miles.
• Cut-Off Time: 4pm (10 hours), 50K participants MUST start their 3rd and final loop before 12:45pm.

🐾 Pets Policy

WE LOVE OUR 4-LEGGED FRIENDS, HOWEVER, FOR OUR TRAIL RACES WE DO NOT ALLOW DOGS OR STROLLERS ON THE COURSE FOR SAFETY REASONS. 

• Chip-Timed: You must wear a bib on the front of your shirt.
• Awards: Top 3 Overall and Masters (40+) Female/Male/Non-Binary runners in all distances.
• Finishers Medal: For everyone who crosses the finish line!
• Results: Available on race day, with photos posted at this link within 4-5 days.

🚗 Race Staging Area / Parking / Restrooms

Race Location: McAllister Park’s Optimist Pavilion #3 next to the playground. Parking is available near the pavilion and there are restrooms nearby as well as port-a-potties with hand sanitizing stations close to the start/finish line.

💧 Cupless Pouring / Aid Stations

• Water Stations: Three on the 50K/15K looped course, one on the 5K course.
• Hydration: Stocked with Crazy Water and Gatorade, remember to bring your own collapsible cup!
• Pollution: Dispose of your trash at Aid Stations or carry it with you.
• Volunteer Support: Available to assist you at the hydration stations.

🌲 Course Details

Course Terrain: Mostly flat and fast single-track trails. The race will utilize the Blue Loop, Mud Creek Loop, and Mosquito Lake trails.

• 50K Route: Plot-A-Route 50K Route
• 15K Route: Plot-A-Route 15K Route
• 5K Route: Plot-A-Route 5K Route

📦 Packet Pick-up

Pick-Up Schedule: Friday, March 6th 4-7pm at REI Co-op, 11745 I-10, Suite 110, San Antonio, TX 78230, or race day morning starting at 5:15am near Optimist Pavilion #3.

📱 Virtual Race Option

Virtual Participation: Complete your 50K/15K/5K anywhere you choose. Note that virtual participants are not eligible for awards or 50K finishers hats. Participants will receive a race t-shirt, finishers medal, and for the 50K, an oval finishers sticker.

Note: PACKETS ARE NOT AUTOMATICALLY SHIPPED. YOU MUST ADD-ON SHIPPING AT REGISTRATION OR PICK UP YOUR PACKET AT NO CHARGE. WE DO NOT HOLD PACKETS AFTER THE RACE.
