The Sawmill Trail Runs @ Staunton State Park
Event Overview:
- Date: 2026-12-05
- Location: 12102 S Elk Creek Rd, Pine, CO
- Origin: The Sawmill Trail Runs started as a “Fat Ass” event at White Ranch Open Space in Golden, CO, in December 2013.
- Current Format: Incorporated into an official trail race in December 2017: moved to Staunton State Park in 2021.
Race Distances:
- Options: 50k, 16-Mile, and 8-Mile distance options available.
- Location: Staunton State Park, featuring high grassy meadows and granite cliffs.
- Elevation: Park elevation ranges from 8,100 feet to over 10,000 feet.
- Access: Approximately 40 miles southwest of downtown Denver, near US Highway 285.
Special Event Notes:
- Traction Devices: Micro-spikes are welcome if conditions permit.
- Snowshoes: Permitted if snow depths exceed 6 inches.
- Restrictions: No other flotation devices will be approved.
- Course Changes: In treacherous conditions, 50k runners may run the 16-Mile course twice.
