Taos Ski Valley Up & Over Trail Run Weekend

Race Overview

Spanning the first weekend of August, the Up & Over Trail Runs Weekend challenges runners with a demanding 10K Trail Run course on Saturday. On Sunday, runners can take on the daunting VerticAL’s VertK.

Taos Ski Valley Up & Over 10k Trail Run

• Event Day: Hosted on Saturday, the 19th Annual Up & Over 10K is notoriously challenging.
• Participant Groups: There are many groups that run together: friends, co-workers, and whole families who want to take on the mountain.
• Course Details: The course is a formidable and scenic 2,612’ climb from 9,321′ at the base, topping out at 11,819′.
• Scenic Views: Expect amazing views of Kachina and Wheeler Peaks, followed by a technical descent through high alpine terrain.

ALL NEW! The Up & Over 20K

• Anniversary Challenge: The Taos Ski Valley Up & Over Trail Runs is raising the bar for our 20th Anniversary with a 20K challenge.
• Vertical Gain: This commemorative course packs a challenging 4,700 feet of vertical gain.
• Terrain: Charge up rugged alpine trails, crest jaw-dropping ridgelines, and bomb down technical descents.
• Memorable Experience: It’s raw, it’s beautiful, and it’s absolutely not for the faint of heart.

VerticAL's VertK

• Event Day: On Sunday take on the 3rd Annual VerticAL's VertK, a daunting vertical 1K up TAOS’s famed Al’s Run.
• Course Terrain: In winter, Al’s is an intimidating long, steep black diamond ski run directly under Lift 1.
• Vertical Gain: VerticAL's participants will scramble up from the base to the finish at the top of Al’s – a grueling gain of 1,497’.
• Age Requirement: Due to the demanding terrain, this event will be open to participants 16+ years old.

10k Double Trouble

• Two-Day Challenge: Take on a two-day challenge with the Up & Over 10k on Saturday and VerticAL's VertK on Sunday.
• Timing: Each race will be timed.
• Special Prize: A special prize going to best combined overall male and female.

Up & Dn Kid's Fun Run

• Event Purpose: This one is just for the kids - a mini-version of our classic Up & Over 10k run.
• Course Details: This course will take the young runners up Pioneer Run and back down again at a distance of 1k.
• Event Name: Let the kids join in the fun with their own 2nd Annual Up & Dn!
