Hero 5k Walk / Run

🏅 Real Heroes, Ordinary People, Extraordinary Courage

The SouthArk Outdoor Expo will once again host the Hero 5k Run/Walk sponsored by TCW Fiber. Runners and walkers of all ages, abilities, and experience levels are encouraged to come out and participate in a supportive and fun 5K event that honors our military and first responders.

🦸‍♂️ Race Overview

• Purpose: To raise awareness of the sacrifices made daily by our courageous heroes and to unite in their honor.
• Honoring Heroes: This race honors healthcare professionals, military personnel, and first responders.
• Community Involvement: The community is invited to honor hometown heroes and those who have served in the military.
• Legacy: This event is in memory of Major Ronald Wayne Culver, who died in Iraq on May 24th, 2010.

🦸‍♀️ Inspiration Behind the Race

• Major Ronald Wayne Culver: A true American hero who sacrificed his life for our country.
• Leslie Darden: An inspiration in the racing world known for her encouragement and uplifting spirit.
• Recognition: Celebrating the spirit of all local heroes, including healthcare professionals and law enforcement.
• Community Unity: Uniting to honor those who have stepped up to earn the title of HERO.

• Date: Saturday, September 6th, 2025
• Race Start Time: 7:30 a.m.

📍 Start/Finish Location

• Location: Corner of E. Ceder St. and S. Jefferson Ave., El Dorado, Arkansas.

🎟️ Packet Pickup

• Date: Friday, September 5, 2025
• Time: 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. & 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
• Location: El Dorado Conference Center, 300 South West Ave., in front of Murphy Hall.
• Race Day: 6:15-7:15 a.m. registration and packet pickup at the start location.

💰 Registration Details

• Pre-registration: By August 28, is $30.
• After August 28: Registration is $35.
• Divisions: Runner Division age groups from 70+ to 0-9.
• Walker Division: All walkers, regardless of age and gender, considered one division.

👕 T-Shirts

• Guarantee: Must register by Friday, August 30th, to guarantee a race shirt.
• Sizes: Available sizes are XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL.

🏃‍♂️ Route Information

• Starting Point: Corner of E. Cedar St. and S. Jefferson Ave.
• Route: Proceed North on S. Jefferson Ave. then follow the designated path ending at the starting point.

🏆 Awards for 5k Runners

• Overall Awards: $100 cash prize and award to first place overall male and female.
• Age Division Awards: Top 3 finishers in each age and gender division will receive awards.
• No Duplication: Overall winners will not receive age division awards.

🎁 Race Swag

• Swag Bag: All registered runners will receive a swag bag including a commemorative performance t-shirt and race bib.
• Additional Goodies: Athletic race goodies will be included in the swag bag.

🌧️ Inclement Weather Policy

• Race Continuation: The race will occur regardless of precipitation.
• Cancellations: If danger arises due to weather, the race will be canceled with no refunds.
