Race Description
Welcome to the Diablo del Desperado Trail Race, where the terrain is rugged, the temps are high, and the payoff is big. Held at the private Desperado Resort just outside of Boerne, TX, this is a trail running experience built for those who don’t back down from a challenge.
Course Options
- Distances: 30K, 10K, and 5K options
- Terrain: Rocky canyon paths, steep climbs, and gritty single-track
- Heat Expectation: Expect plenty of exposure to classic late-September Texas heat—hot, humid, and relentless
- Course Variance: Please note there may be some slight variances on the route due to flooding along the river.

Ruck Requirements
- Weight Requirement: For participants weighing under 150lbs, packs must weigh 20lbs or more.
- Weight Requirement: For participants weighing 150lbs or more, packs must weigh 30lbs or more.
- Course Cut-off: 7 hours with a pace of 22.5 minutes per mile.
Aid Stations & Hydration
We’ve got you covered with fully stocked aid stations placed throughout the course, offering cold water, electrolytes, fuel, first aid, and the support you need to battle the heat and keep moving forward.
- 5K Runners: Will hit one aid station
- 10K Runners: Will hit two aid stations
- 30K Runners: Will hit the two aid stations 3 times
- Recommendations: Carry water and electrolytes with you to ensure you stay hydrated in the heat.
Post-Race Celebration
Cross the finish line and you’re not done yet—take a jump into the Guadalupe River, just steps away from the finish, to cool down and celebrate your effort. Every participant receives a finisher’s medal and a race shirt, because if you conquer the Diablo del Desperado Trail Race, you’ve earned it.
- Vendors: Check out some of the awesome vendors that will be there celebrating with you post-race.
- Food: Allen's Bs and Ds will be serving up some great post-race food.
- Refreshments: Famous Juice Co will be serving up some refreshing juice samples.
- Hydration: Stop by the Hydra Fusion IV tent for IV hydration treatments.
Important Information
- Spectators: Must purchase a "Buddy Pass" for $10 before arriving, as Desperado Resort is private property.
- Shirt Cutoff: T-Shirt cutoff will be August 31, 2025. All signups after the cutoff date are not guaranteed a shirt.
