Circle the Lake Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K

A Race with a Purpose

• Family-friendly: Fun, family-friendly, dog-friendly a race with a purpose as all proceeds help improve our lake water quality.
• Fundraising Success: Last year we raised over $32,000 which went directly towards 3 new aerators for the lake to reduce invasive weeds/algae, and promote a healthy fish habitat.

Race Overview

• Location: Beautiful views and a country feel, the Circle the Lake Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k will take you along the shores of Circle Lake in rural Rice County, MN.
• Scenic Course: Located just 20 minutes south of Burnsville, MN, these courses are run over rolling hills on a mix of paved and dirt roads.
• Wildlife Watching: It is possible to spot bald eagles, osprey, deer, ducks, pelicans, and to hear the hum of a distant tractor.
• Historic Route: Runners will follow the same route the Jesse James Gang once traveled, starting and ending at the historic Millersburg School House.

Course Details

• Training Opportunity: The Half Marathon is held two weeks before the Twins Cities Marathon, making it perfect for those training for that race.
• Course Challenge: Our half marathon is tough and will test your mettle with several big hills that will challenge you!
• Chip-timed: All races will be chip-timed, with posted mile markers and water/sports drinks available throughout the course.

Registration Information

• Commemorative T-shirt: All racers registered prior to August 23rd will get a commemorative t-shirt. We cannot guarantee a t-shirt for registrations posted after that date.
• Finisher Medals: Medals will be awarded to all finishers, and there will be a prize for the male and female winners of each race.
• Price Increase: There is a $10 price increase on August 23rd. Register early to assure your spot and save some money.
• Same-day Registrations: Same-day registrations will be available. Races are rain or shine, and we cannot offer refunds or transfers to another person.

Post-Race Celebration

• Cheering Section: Invite your family and friends to cheer you on and celebrate your accomplishment.
• Boonies Grill: Located at the start/end of the race, Boonies is pleased to offer you one complimentary drink after you finish.

Race Schedule

• Registration: Same Day Registration runs from 7:15-8:15 A.M.
• 10k and Half Marathon: Races begin at 8:30 A.M.
• 5k Race: Begins at 8:35 A.M.

About Circle Lake

• Recreational Use: Circle Lake is used for recreation, sports, and by naturalists.
• Charity Event: This is a charity event sponsored by the Circle Lake Association.
• Improving Watershed: The association has many projects completed and much more planned to improve the lake's watershed.
• Project Funding: The proceeds from this event go toward funding those projects.
