• Tragic Loss: She lost her battle with cervical cancer on March 3, 2013, at the age of forty-three.
• Scholarship Establishment: The “Lisa Nelson Memorial Scholarship” was created in her honor to support student-athletes at Ralston Valley.
• Award: Each year, a male and female student-athlete receives scholarships in her memory.
