Saturday, September 13th, 2025
Please join us on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 13TH at 8 AM sharp for the 6th Annual Heart & Sole 5K held in memory of Cole Varnum. The race will start and end at Central Baptist Church in Americus, GA. Runners, Joggers, Walkers, and individuals of all ages are welcome to participate in this event.
Awards will be given to the TOP THREE male and female winners in several categories ranging from 9 and under to 80 and over.
Cole was only 21 years old when he unexpectedly passed away June 2, 2018 due to Sudden Cardiac Arrest from an unknown illness, Cardiomegaly (an enlarged heart). He graduated from Southland Academy in 2015 and was a current Psychology Major at Georgia Southwestern State University when he passed. He was very well-known and active member in the community, and he loved volunteering and helping others.
Proceeds from the race will benefit The Cole Varnum Agency. The Cole Varnum Agency was founded in memory of Cole Varnum, with intent to potentially save lives by raising public awareness of Sudden Cardiac Arrest. The goal is to be able to provide Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to local schools, businesses, organizations, and individuals in the surrounding area who could possibly benefit from having one, as well as provide the opportunity for individuals to participate in AED/CPR training and heart screenings.
To date, The Cole Varnum Agency has placed 19 AEDs in our local and surrounding communities. We are looking forward to another successful race this year, and we hope that you will join us!
